Its my BIG 30 this year. Not rubbing it in but want to celebrate.. Just booked a holiday and now i need something for those left behind. Its at the end of April and need something to do etc with friends and work colleagues.
Had an idea about meal in London and show, but can't think of any show i really want to see right now.

I could stay in our city and go out, but trying to think of new places and ideas its tough.. A good old knees up will happen, just got to get most of them out of the idea of going to cheap tacky places..

Anyone got any ideas? What did you do or do you have planned or would like to do yourself?
I'm great at thinking of things for others but when it comes to myself not so good.

Oh and the next day is WELKS, so thankfully a good friend is driving me over there, god i'm going to be in a hideous state for that show.

Congratulations :-D
It's my 'little' sisters 30th birthday this year, in March. We're having a fancy dress party for her. Hired a local hall cheaply (£50) with a capacity to fit 120 people in, booked a disco for the night and I am just finishing of designing the invites. We're having a theme = movie & TV characters. We have quite a big family (about 100 family members to be invited) and so far everyone we've spoke to about it are really excited, it's going to be great fun :) Even my dad is getting dressed up and as he has a hook instead of a left hand, he's going as Captain Hook :-D

For my 30th I went out for a meal with my closest family members, hubby, sons, dad, mum (they've been divorced for years!), sister and her boyfriend.

As well as my sisters 30th this year, it's my hubbies 40th!! He is sooo not looking forward to it, so doesn't want any big do, think it will be another meal out.

Ooooh I will be watching this thread with interest as it is also my 30th this year. Like you I have booked to be away for my actual birthday but feel I should do something for family when I get home! So can't wait to see what ideas you get given!

Just seen that Paula, yours is before mine from what i can see.. I'm going to be away the month after my birthday as work couldn't allow for me to have more than my birthday and day after off :-(

Hoping to get some good ideas which i can put in place.

I went to Puerto Banus for the actual 'change over' and a meal and night at the casino with close friends and family members then for all my friends we had an old skool sleepover !! Every one had to wear peejays and we rented out the films we grew up watching like The Goonies, Pretty in Pink and Mannequin and one of my friends managed to order a load of the penny sweets you used to get. Not too everyones taste but combined with drinking games and the fact everyone had to turn up with as many pics they had of us all growing up, I had one of the best nights of my life.

I had a day out in London on my actual birthday, bit of shopping, sushi for lunch then on to quite a posh restaurant in Kensington for dinner - that was with my OH, then at the weekend a big group of us went out for a Thai meal and a couple of drinks in town.

Party sounds like a good idea, some of our pubs in town will hire out a section to you, lay on a buffet and you dont have to pay as long as you have a certain amount of people attending - how about 80's fancy dress.

Other things you could do - day at the races, spa day/weekend ....

Hmm there is a thought, no horse racing on my bday weekend, but there are a few polo matches going on.. hum de dum..
Or i could delay it until Ascot ladies day or even Henley Regatta..

Actually i think i may do those things this year anyway, don't need a bday for an excuse.. right let me think..

ooh polo .... now that is posh !!!!

Have you looked at windsor race course ? we had a really good day there for a hen do.
