Ok i have been told alsorts of different hings about spaying and i am now gonna ask you guyz.
what stage of a bithc's cycle is the best time for spaying ?
i have been told...
1 anytime it dont matter
2 while she is in season
3 as soon as she finishes her season (bleed)
4 mid cycle ...slap bang in the middle like 3 months after her last bleed!
now the last one i have only heard someone advise once but to me that sounds the most likely as that is the time of a cycle when hormones are most stable !
anyway advise welcomed ...ohh and she will be 2 on christmas eve and she is 4 months since her last bleed.

Mid way is best, but if this is the bitch you are having trouble with I'd sort that out first. Jackie

done jakie have a look on the other thread .:D
but thanks for your concern and if mid cycle is best it will be another 5 months b4 we have her done and that leaves plenty of "make sure" time inbetween .
thanks jo x x x

Think you need to give it a bit of time. You have sorted the problem, but as it wasn't just the one incedent you were worried about I would give her time to get used to being more confident. Say 3 monthes after the next season, that is if you really need to spay. Ja:)kie

had a long talk with a few vets about it and while it can be done most anytime all tended to agree that midway between cycles was best.

Midway between cycles is certainly best. From the surgery point of view, this is when the blood supply to the uterus is at its lowest, so there is far less risk of during- and post-op bleeding. From the behavioural point of view, her hormones will be at their "calmest" and so she is far less likely to get iffy after the operation.
