Our Boxer is 7 months old she is fed on Orijen Puppy 3 meals a day for the last couple of weeks in the early hours of the morning about 4am she tries to be sick this usually ammounts to some white froth (Not the slimmy type with KC) sometimes it is food that comes up but mostly bile.We have tried giving her a little food before bed incase it is hunger induced and have also given her half a Zantac but to no avail.Could it be the Orijen food as up until 3 nonths ago she was on Arden Grange only changed her over as it a good food no complaints with Arden Grange. Thanks for any help. i'd be tempted to go back the the food she was on before unless there's a good reason not to.
Also i have a boxer and they do benefit from having their bowl raised off the floor when they eat but you may do that already.
i'd also pop to the vets for a check up just to check her out but your doing the right thing by giving smaller meals more often.
when my boxer has had this sort of problem i've also given him cooked rice and a little cooked chicken for a couple of days instead of his normal food, it's so much lighter on their stomache and seems to calm things down but if it doesn't then i always pop back to the vets.

make sure you are not rushing to her and making a fuss when it happens.
My weimaraner does it too from time to time, generally when a meal bit overdue but she'll also do it when fretting about requiring our attention!  once we twigged that and didn't rush to her the episodes frequency dropped dramatically.

Hi - have a look at the thread - 'Bedlington Terrier with Colitis'  - my dog used to do the vomiting thing with bile in it - we now feed him three times a day and small meals - he is much better as he used to mistake hunger for feeling sick when it was actually the bile building up in his stomach.

We are now phasing burns fish and brown rice in as a complete food - and things are going well.

Give your dog a cuddle for me- I know how horrid it is to see them being sick,

Anna

Thank you all for your replys Betty is our 6th Boxer (must be mad) yesterday she went to the vet for a check up and to see if she had a temp. that was inducing the bile attacks whilst there the vet ran a blood test for pancreas, kidneys and liver all came back all ok.The vet has said that it could be Acid Reflux that could be set off by the Orijen, the treatment is to be put on a bland diet she suggested James Wellbeloved it makes a change for the vet not to push their own food, and to take a 1/4 if a Zantac 3 times a day and see how she goes all our Boxers have been raised on James Wellbeloved food and raised bowls, the puppy when we got was on Arden Grange which we were happy with until other half got on the net about Orijen being one of the best for dogs that are prone to gastric torsion as it does'nt soak up water as much as a lot of other dried foods which causes bloat.I hope all this makes sense.thank you again Debby

bile usually occurs with my dogs if they have thier tea earlier than 6pm , one of them especially needs a bis before bed or I wake up to bile which they have vomited during the night. I give half a digestive bis each.
I also feed Arden Grange.(Lamb)
