can anyone tell me if a permit is needed to ride  in the New Forest. I live about 30 miles away and have just purchased a horse trailer would like to try out different rides and hopefully do Dartmoor and Exmoor at some time, we have some goods ride around here but only if we use the main roads to get to the decent rides, and the traffic is so bad  that we would just love to be able to ride in peace.

No, you don't need a permit, but we do appreciate riders staying to the tracks ;-)
