does any one now, roughly how long it takes something to arrive at your address aftre being dispatched if being delivered from the USA... never ordered from abroad before. small package, letter sized parcel?

I never buy stuff online in the UK its cheaper to buy from the US usually it takes about 2 weeks depends where in the US and how its being delivered. You can track items to see where and how long they take. However I have ordered stuff from Japan and that took 6 weeks!

Remember that when buying from the US you might well get stung for import tax ...

Yes, it's why it is worth making small orders (unless the item is an expensive one anyway.)

thank god for that lol. it never occured to me about import tax, duty etc, just saw the price on the online catalogue and paid it. whoops lol... thought i'd end up with a massive import bill or something.... no good with stuff like that!

I have a lot of things delivered from the USA and I've always received within 7-14 days, depends how quickly the person you are dealing with posts it out to be honest. :-)

I've ordered many times from the US, i have been stung with tax this end when its come from a so called 'proper' company. The tax was about £20 from what i recall and that was on underwear from VS, so reluctant to oder direct again, will be sending order and money to a friend to buy it over there and then she can send it over..
When i've ordered off ebay i've never been charged any tax.

A lot depends on the 'honesty' of the person/company sending the order :) 'Proper' companies will know whether the order is liable for UK taxes and will declare it properly so that it is picked up on arrival in the UK :) Some people will deliberately make the parcel look as tho' it is a 'family' gft and hope that it slips through. A proportion of 'undeclared' parcels will be opened and checked.

Some delivery companies will ask for the tax on delivery, others wll want it before.

It's just best to be aware before ordering that tax/duty may be applicable as sometimes it may just be cheaper to buy in the EU :)
