Topic Other Boards / Foo / Horsey Question - Haylage
- By Balibee Date 24.01.10 19:13 UTC
Hi all
Our hay supply has just turned horrible and mouldy!  Sending it all back so Have had to put my horse on emergency haylage and he may have to stay on it for a week or 2 until I can source some hay.

My question is,  he is a very hotheaded warmblood and he is on the blandest diet you can get just to keep him on an even keel!  I am worried this is going to blow him up a bit!

What is the best haylage with the lowest protein etc.  Don't think much to the marksway which I got today.  i was advised the one with timothy but just not sure :-(

Any advice?

Thanks
Ali

horsehage timothy is the best one for good doers and hot headed beasts such as my old boy (RIP). my other boy was exactly the opposite tho and way fed on the alfalfa as he was a skinny bean, full of himself tho, just a poor doer.

horsehage is the best stuff in the world. i used to feed it to alll my horses, but can no longer afford it lol, so only feed it through winter to the poor doer only, the others have to suffer with the stuff off our fields... you should see their faces, talk about being long in the face lol
