Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Orijen- feeding young pups

Now I use orijen for my younger BC (she is coming up for 2 years) and she has been on it since about a year old and looks great on it.

A friend has a relative of hers and her pup was weaned onto orijen and has been onto ever since.  What she has found though if she has done training through the day using chicken or some other meat that pup then has diarhea (sp?) for the next 24 hours.  Another owner who has one of the other pups has found the same.

Has anyone else found this and if so anyone know why?  She is thinking of changing pup across to something with less protein if this is gonna keep happening such as burns mini bites etc.

I don't quite see the logic in reducing the protein? My dogs are fed Orijen along with raw tripe/fish/meat and don't have this problem if I use cooked meat for training. It is more likely they are getting too much food full stop, if they are having their usual daily allowance of Orijen, followed by an additional amount of "training" food. By swapping foods I can't see how this would help.

I would suggest on training days reduce the amount of Orijen fed and see if that helps.
