Given the reams of ink used recently to point out the risk to health of a closed gene pool would you ever consider introducing a dfferent breed into your line ( note I am not talking about intervariety matings here but completely different breeds ) ....thus deliberately producing a litter of crossbreeds with the intention of mating them back into your breed with the aim of increased genetic diversity.

Not outwith the realms of possibility...just not viable until a DNA marker is found for SM an MVD in my case.
No point crossing if we dont know which to...a) Keep........ and b) breed from.
Only if there were a serious health issue and nothing that would solve it within the gene pool, or to save a breed from extinction where genetic load had caused fertility issues.
