we took our girl to a proven stud and she stood and was mated with a 20 min tie, we thought she was only on day 8 and was surprised that they mated as she was going to stay there for a week, as anybody else mated a bitch on day 8 and go on to be in whelp.

Yes one of mine did, in fact it was day 6.

We had a bitch that mated on day 7, went on to have 7 pups too.
Only mated the once and wasn't interested in letting the stud have his oats a couple of days later.

Yes.  Most definitely.  One of my girls is so predictable.  I realise that they are not all like it.  But she only ever has a season for 14 days, and it is over, finished.  She flags on day 3 and mates on day 8 & 10.  It has happened twice, she caught both times.  And, I felt it was to the first mating at day 8.

Yes 1 of our females was mated day 7 just 1 mating, 4 puppies, another of ours is always day 9, had 10 puppies in each litter.

took ours to the stud dog on day 9, she was mated within 30 mins of arriving!!. Just have to wait for the scan in 3 weeks now...fingers crossed:)

A friend of mines her Leonberger was mated on day 4 and had 14 healthy babies , there is no real rule to it, the bitch is ready when she's ready!!

I know how you feel, our girl missed 18 months ago, all the way to Germany to the stud and she didnt conceive, we decided to show her all last year and mate her at the end of the season, happily she is now in welp, best of luck x

oh good luck anastasia...fingers crossed for you, I looked at your website aswell..I have a huge soft spot for GSD's. Hubby not too keen as he was attacked when he was 17 and very badly bitten...almost lost his..err..manhood, docs werent sure they would be able to stitch it up...very nasty scar!!! (Sorry bit too much info there) We did want to show Treacle, but when we enquired about it we were told she had just a bit too much white to be acceptable:(...hoping for a solid colour from this litter:)

If you read the "book of the bitch", you will see that when the bitch turns for mating is not an exact science, and she also can only have as small as a 24 hour window!  So when you go back the next day and the dog wont do dont shout at the dog!  He knows when to waste his energy and precious cargo
