I have the petnap one which I like better than the vinyl covered soft ones you can get as the seams come unglued on that one.

I have bought a vivarium one which is only the thickness of a sheet of plastic.  I used one like that lent by a Friend years ago, and was really happy with it as there was no lumpiness under the bedding.

i would like to use these with my very first litter im planning. on that website it says you cannot use vetbeds. which bedding would be best to use please?

I use vetbed in my whelping boxes, and slip the petnap heating pad under it.

ETA
I have one in use now, the heat is coming through well enough for my small breed puppies.

thankyou.
would you also mind suggesting which size i should have, i have a small breed averaging 2-4 pups. i understand puppies will spread out if they are warm, so should i have enough heat to cover the entire wlelping box?
havent decided on which box yet though i may make one.

With my medium size double coated breed where I tend to have around 4 - 7 puppies a pad a bit larger than a sheet of A4 is plenty.

This means I can at first put it in the middle for the pups and the bitch can lie on any side without having to lie on it, and get hot.

The pups in my breed tend not to want extra heat by 10 - 14 days, it  is plenty for them to pile on before then.

At two weeks I keep it on only at night in one corner for the pups benefit as by then Mum will choose to lie outside the box most of the time.

I use the smallest size flexiguard for my toy breed.  Pups are a lot smaller than Barbara's so I have underbed heat for a minimum of 21 days.  It doesn't cover the whole bed area, so the bitch can easily move away from heat.  While the pups tend to generate towards it.

At 15 days my pups are still enjoying the heat, but they were 4ozs born, so I would expect this.
