Should venison bones and meat be limited in a dog's diet ? And does anyone feed duck raw or is it too rich ?
i feed venison mince every day have not had any probs so far ,but hard to find any info about it.

I have fed venison bones occasionally when they have been available and would feed duck if I could get it.

Barkingmad16 which bones do you feed. there is a venison factory near my house and I was speaking to one of the staff one day when I wandered past with the dogs and he said the bones are too tough for the dogs especially the lower legs. I recall hearing that somewhere else that the lower legs are likely to splinter. If I thought they would be ok, i would be a bit more insistent with my hints next time ;)

I describe them as blades, they look like a bomerang type shape. Similar to the lamb blades. Sorry don't know the butchers description for them. I am sure the ribs and upper body bones would be ok, havent heard about the leg bones splintering but have never been offered them anyway. :-)

Thanks , Got loads of venison bones in the freezer but was unsure if it was a bit too rich for everyday .... Passed the duck up as i just thought of the one's i have had a try of, from the chinese and thought ,grease and fat ... But might try my luck and tell them i will have duck next time as long as they pluck it...(it was a whole duck ,feathers and all and could not pluck a duck )

Know what you mean about the info , i was a little scared about feeding it , it has a very strong smell and i was a little worried ...Did not know whether it was mean't to smell like that or whether it was just old ...
