my toy poodle is the fussiest ive ever known a dog.shes 8 months old and is more happy to eat the raw chicken than eat her puppy food.
can i feed her this as her main meal and gve up on the puppy food?or should she still be having puppy food?
i feel she is underweight as she will
not eat her food.i have tried feeding her different times or places than the others just to see if its the fact she wants theirs but its not working she'd rather starve.
anyone shed some light for me please?

not expert on toys breeds but my chi x pom has been raw fed since about 6 months old , she gets exactly what my 38kg gsd gets only smaller amounts (obviously lol). She really didn't like the various completes I tried but to to raw like a duck to water.
Vet saw her last mopnth for spaying and is very pleased with how fit and well she is even perhaps a little chubby (oops )its hard to cut back 100grms of food it looks so little !!

i knoew exactly what you mean.
thanx for reply
I know exactly how you feel I also have a very fussy toy poodle aged 5 who after trying various foods now has natures menu in tins and Royal Canin mini sensible kibble, I think natures menu do a puppy food but in the pouches but i know you can give poodles adult food by they are 10 months according to Royal Canin. They also get raw tripe once a week as well mixed with kibble. I have another toy poodle age 3 who is not nearly so fussy. Hope this helps.

yea it does thank you.im not the only one then.x
No you aren't the only one.
i have a toy poodle myself, who is now a year old, just turned a year on wed last week.
He is the most fussiest boy i've ever owned - the most spoilt too.
He no longer eats commercial food meat ie butchers or pedigree or whatever you find in shops, but he does eat raw meat from Prize Choice for dinner, which he loves!
have an issue with his breakfast though - we feed him biscuits for his breakfast but he won't eat them. He sits there and either plays with it or stares at it wondering how to eat it, he's a very puzzling boy, and i'm sometimes wondering if he's actually intelligent like he's supposed to be as a poodle or if i just have a dumb pup. lol

lol how funny, all have thier own little personalities dont they.they certainly know how to wind theyre way around us lol
Hi as you have probably read my above post I have a very fussy toy poodle too, when I give mine the dry food I tend to put it in their kongs as neither of them will eat it out of a dish. I have also bought some tasty topper from Barker and Barkers last week which seems to help a bit although I tend to usually give it to the fussy one only as the younger dog Pepe usually eats the wet food with no problem. Which dry food do you use? I tried various of the good quality ones but now stick to the Royal Canin mini sensible which is especially for fussy eaters and is a very tiny kibble which Rusty (the fussy one) and Pepe seem to prefer.
I have a 17 week Toy Poodle and she is pretty fussy as well. She will only have a little of her dry food in the morning and she seems to wait for either her mince or some chicken. My breeder gave me some raw tripe which she really like. I want to get her on to that again. They sell some frozen packs in my local pet supermarket. Just wondering what you guys recommend ? I give her scramble eggs some mornings (so she is alittle spolit!). The kibble is the Royal Canin puppy mini.

I'm laughing at that comment! :-) Really takes me back in time.
It is over 30 years since I bought my first Toy Poodle. Bear in mind that I was used to Collies.
I was very worried about how little my Toy Poodle ate, and actually went to the vet, I was that concerned.
He said "Jean, it's a Poodle, not a bloody donkey!" :-) :-) :-)

Lovely Jean now I am laughing, thats how I feel 1200grms for gsd and now 75grams for Mia. I am sure she would eat his if I let her.
Do you have a pets at home near you? If so they sell bags of frozen tripe that is minced so you can get out as much as you want. The mention of scrambled eggs reminded me that your pup came from Mrs Riddett like my 2 poodles as I have still got the copies of the diet sheet she gave me. One of my poodles is very fussy as well so I also buy Royal Canin but the mini sensible as they are both adults and also natures menu in tins as Rusty doesn't like the pouches. They get frozen tripe about once a week for a change.
Yeah I have a pets at home near me so I will try that! I remember that your poodles also came from Mrs Riddett as well. Do your poodles still have scramble eggs or do they grow out of it? She really loves it so I can't help treating her to some especially when we are having some ourselves. Once she is ready my plan is to move her on to the mini sensible as well.

At one time my Elka was on a 100g of food to keep her weight down, and she was a 20kg elkhound! Mine normally get between 150 - 200g so 100g sounds plenty for a toy poodle.
Dont forget that raw chicken will not be sufficient as the main protein source. Variety is key when feeding raw, however it is important to start it off slowly. introducing one protein source, allowing the body to get use to this, then adding in another.
Also, remember that you will need to add organ meats in, muscle meat along with raw meaty bones :)

My two don't have scrambled egg now I have to say when I took them for their first visit to the vet I was asked to take their diet sheet with me. The vet read it through and said that I should give them the royal canin at every meal and that was all they needed. I did find though they didn't like the kibble on its own so I used to give them a good quality wet food or the tripe as I couldn't bear seeing them not eating I must be a bit soft as I know many people including vets say they will eat when they are hungry. They now have mainly natures menu tins with kibble in their Kongs. Having said all that I am sure that it is fine giving your pup eggs sometimes.

I give mine raw egg occasionaly you could change to that instead especially if you are going raw.
