Topic Dog Boards / General / The puppy, the cat and the garden!

Hi everyone,
Could someone tell me, will my new pup be safe to use the garden to go to the toilet in before she is fully vaccinated? I ask this because we have a cat-who's vaccs are all up to date, so he would'nt be carrying any diseases, and I don't think any other cats use our garden as a loo.
Also, we have a choice of grass (I know about bitches turning it yellow!), gravel, concrete, or soil-which would be best to teach her to go on.
Many thanks
Nic :)

Hi Nic - as long as you have no un-vaccinated dogs use your garden then it should be fine IMO :)

As to where to go to the toilet - mine have a choice of all the surfaces you list and choose the gravel usually. I'm happy about that as when wee they don't stand in a puddle like on concrete and the lawn stays clear (and green ;) ) Only trouble is clearing up - we have less gravel than we used to :D
