I have new kitchen and the new ovens fitted are de dietrich. Now i know with fan ovens you reduce the recommended temp time by 20'c but if you use an oven thermometer should it still read what you've set the temp at or does it show lower becuase of the fan system?
my new oven bleeps when its up to temp but my oven thermometer is no where near that temp and takes ages to get even close to it. if the thermometer is at the bottom then its definately lower which i thought wasn't supposed to happen in a fan assisited - same temp all round. Had a fan oven before and think this might have been the same but just to ask what others have found.
The thermometer is new and i only got it as couldn't believe the oven could get to that temp so quick, now not sure is thermomter is rubbish or oven not working properly or this is how its supposed to be!
any advice on this would be good. By the way the oven cooks fine and within stated cooking times but somtimes browns more on one side quicker.

i have a fan oven but never checked the temp with a thermometer so don't know about that.
As you said i always set mine 20 'c lower when cooking by a recommended temp and i do get a difference in the temp depending where i put things in the oven but i thought that was normal to a certain extent.
i love a fan oven, could never go back to a normal oven again.
if your oven is cooking things in the stated time then i wouldn't worry too much.
yeah perhaps your right - just thought someone might know the answer.
going to a cooking demo at the weekend where i brought the kitchen and appliances so will ask then.
