My 12 week old cocker spaniel bitch had her final injection (along with her microchip) and the vet said not to take her out for another week - is this normal.

Yes. It takes a while for the antibodies to build up, so your pup isn't fully protected yet.

yes - totally normal - although I've always been advised to leave it two weeks after the final jab before going out.

Agree it is normal, but you should hopefully already be taknig your pup out and about in arms, as socialising should start as soon as possible. (Obviously not to places where there are lotsof dogs, just in case, but to reasonably safe places such as shopping areas where you may meet a few dogs but not too many. I have alwasy found upmarket garden cventres good because the dogs you meet will mostly have been vaccinated ... our local one even does dog microchipping sessions for half-price organised by a rescue!!!)
