anyone with a GIANT BREED had any experience with just a single pup? im curious to know just how much the bitch "shows" in comparison to a normal litter.

Not as Giant as your breed Sam but when my Merlot carried just one I was sure she had more as she was obviously pregnant in the last 10/15 days.

Thanks.was it only in those last 2 weeks that you really noticed it?

Just had that for the first time and she didnt really look that big at all but her previous litter was 11 so completely the other end of the scale, i could feel movement so knew she was but was quite shocked when there was only one.....Sadly not a good outcome for me and my girl.

It was only the last week that i was sure she was pregnant, i had suspected so all along though even when she hadnt changed at all as her vulva was larger than normal and that has always been correct regarding pregnant or phantom for me and is the first thing i look for before any other signs.

How far along is your girl?

I had my bitch scanned at 5 weeks, and the scanner picked up the one puppy, which was huge and had to be born by c section.

Not experience of a giant breed but a large breed, breeder even took her bitch to be scanned and was told she was definitely not having any pups.  Low and behold a few weeks later bitch gives birth to one very healthy and large pup!

Hi Sam yes we knew from the scan she only had one but she did show in the last two weeks and I could feel the pup from 6 weeks moving. I thought there were more as it did not matter which side I felt i could still feel movement. She had a C sect and one big boy, he is doing great now and is two years old.
