The last couple of evenings our gas fire has kept shutting itself off. It seems better today. Could this be something to do with the pressure or something. I know that ovens don't always work so efficiently when there is a big demand on electricity. Has anyone else had this happening?
not exactly but we have a bck boiler, all has been well until this morning when the rads wern't getting hot. Have increased the boiler temperature and all seems well for now but dont understand why its no colder to do than it has been. I wondered about gas pressure too
We have had SO much trouble since just after Xmas with our gas . We spent 24hrs without it and had to go out and spend a lot of money on oil filled radiators to get us through. The gas men came and dug 2 holes after Xmas then they were filled in again last week so we assumed it was fixed - WRONG . It went off again this weekend and the engineer who came said that they haven't found the problem yet ! Apparently the thawing has caused cracks in pipes and water is leaking in which stops the gas , the men just come and pump the water out every so often . Ours started with low gas power on the hob , then the radiators went just warm until it eventually went off . I have heard rumours of rationing but not sure if they would actually do it .
We had this problem too and after speaking to one of our friends who actually works for British Gas, he told us to get a drinking straw and blow down the thermo couple, where the pilot light is, we did this and it's been fine ever since.
