I have a litter (small breed) Just over 3.5 weeks old. I have been trying to wean them now for a good few days now, trying twice a day before they feed off mum, using Royal canin puppy complete made in to a slop, with boiling water, have also given scrambled eggs, have had the odd lick off my hand from a couple, but most won't even try it. I have been looking at hills puppy wet food has anybody used this or any other wet food to wean? A couple today have not gained a thing since being weighed last night and mum really doesn't want to know anymore, but will still feed, I have a tin of pedigree chum I have found just the meat loaf one(but not puppy), was thinking about trying this on next feed later on tonight or should I wait until tomorrow when I can get a wet puppy meat. What else could i try? Help and advice needed.
Scrape a piece of raw beef with a knife and give them that.
Raw beef - What would be the best cut to use? I will pop out tomorrow
Anything you've got in the freezer will do. I start with a small piece of steak.

Have you actually popped food into their mouths? Sometimes all that's needed is to get a bit in so then they realise it is actually nice. I always start with mince and move onto dog food after that.
Hi MarianneB, No i haven't done that, what a twit i am!
I mixed raw minced beed ( frozen stuff from tesco) through the slop and they loved it. Took each one and gave them a taste from my finger. By the time i had got onto the 4th pup the one who'd had a taste went in the bowls
themself :-)

I always pop it into the mouth of each pup individually or if it is the puppy food then from the tip of a small teaspoon.
I weaned my pups on naturediet very successfully from 2 1/2 weeks, can mix with welpi or water they liked it warm and very sloppy then gradually reduced the liquid
Good Luck
I normally start with minced beef and place small amounts in their mouth....they love it!! I then introduce Royal canin babydog, making it nice and sloppy with the RC milk.
Good Luck

I scoop it onto the end of my little finger and they tend to suck it into their mouths like a teat, then their away licking off a plate.

My breed can be very difficult to wean ... infact my recent litter were still being spoon fed (literally as you would a human baby) until they were around 6 weeks old, when suddenly they decided one day they would eat it off the plate unaided... prior to this if I had just left the plate down for them to help themselves, they would have had a sniff of it, walk through it and then promptly gone back to bed LOL.
