hi all im after some advice
i have a bitch who is 6wks pregnant and have noticed a clear stingy disharge is theis normal
this is her 2nd litter but i didnt notice it before in last pregnancy
i have had her scanned at 4wks and vets could see 5 pups
could the discharge be because shes having a bigger litter this time as she is massive compared 2 last time
- By cavlover Date 04.01.10 16:30 UTC
Certainly, a clear, odourless discharge is normal in pregnancy. Nothing to worry about.

Perfectly normal - as long as there is no smell, it's fine.

she seems 2 be doing fine
not eating much so giving her 3-4 small meals a day
she was mated on 21st & 23rd nov
took her 2 vets at what would of been 4 1/2 wks but they said seemed more like 3 1/2wks
but over last few days she has got well big and leakin milk slightly could the vets be wrong by scan
or should i get her rescanned
also could anyone tell me whats the earliest time a dog can have her pups without a problem

regards lisa

from 57 days pups are usually viable, or female was mated 27th nov, she too is not eating much, its stressful isnt it? she is just grazing, i will be glad when the puppies arrive, good luck with your litter.

Bitches tend to look a lot bigger with a second litter even if it is a smaller litter.
- By pcs969804 [gb] Date 11.01.10 18:49 UTC
hi thanks
well at 1st scan they could see 5 pups but they only scanned the lower part of her stomach
and they said pups looked a wk smaller then they should be for 4 1/2 wks so havin scan 2 make sure everything ok
- By annastasia [gb] Date 12.01.10 10:27 UTC
Hope everything goes ok for you x

My girl whelped last Friday, her second litter, she was smaller this time than with her first of 7 pups, so I guessed at 5 pups..........she had 8!!  So size isn't always something to go by, I've had girls look absolutely massive with second litters but only go on to have 4 pups.

Good luck, hope all goes well.

So do women  ha ha

I agree he he!
My female was scanned for 5 puppies, coming up for 7 weeks in welp, she isnt huge, but usually her stomach is tight and very toned, so i guess she is big for her, what stage up to can they reabsorb, im paranoid.

up to day 35 im sure annastasia if im wrong some1 will say :) ,this girl here was scanned at week 4 and was 6 pups she had 8 lol so dont be surprised if she has a few more :) good luck hun i know how much this litter means to you xx

Thanx White Lilly, yes after her missing October 2008, we are delighted to have finally got her in welp, saying that i believe in fate as if she had a litter we would not have shown her last year and she wouldnt have been made into a champion, so all for a reason eh? fingers xd all goes well with her, we are so excited, i will be more than happy with the 5 though.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 13.01.10 17:10 UTC
i like even numbers ;) lol so 4 or 6 for me ,less stress for bitch and alot less work for us :).
- By SharonM Date 13.01.10 17:32 UTC
I scanned my girl and was certain she was having 5, she was definitely bigger one side than the other, so thought an odd number and as she wasn't as big as her first litter which she had 7, so was certain there were 5, she ended up having 8, I guess she just carried more in one horn than the other.
- By annastasia [gb] Date 13.01.10 17:34 UTC
You can never really be sure can you? one of our females was scanned wth 6 and went on to have 10, she is a long stretched female though, i guess some where hiding behind her ribs.

hi all
well i took my girl back 2 vets last nite for a 2nd scan 2 see if they can tell me if shes havin more than 5 pups as she is huge (which is what they saw at 1st scan)
but they refused 2 scan her said they wouldnt be able 2 tell me.
all they could tell me if she had a scan was if pups were ok
they said just 2 wait till she has them 2 see how many she has and if no pups arrive after 2 hrs pushing then 2 ring them or if still pushing after havin them 2 ring
they did weigh her and shes put on 2.5kgs since mating vets said this wasnt alot
