can anyone help my dobe has starting losing masses of hair from her neck and her skin underneath is very dry and flakey .i have booked her into the vets tommorrow but has anyone any ideas!

Providing it is not a normal moult when the skin can get dry I would get her thyroid tested - T4

If it is a thyroid problem she will be on tablets for the rest of her life but they are very effective and if she is also at all lethargic, heat seeking, increasing in weight etc it will fix all these problems as well

Please let us know how she gets on

My Dad's dog gets this and it's due to thyroid problems, could be a similar thing.

my vet has suggested mange and has taken skin scraping,the results are clear and he has given me a topical treatment to try. I asked about thyroid but he thinks it unlikely as she is only 11 months old and is full of life and otherwise in good condition.
