Does anyone know the KC's take on this?

Having used it on my champion veteran I can tell you it doesn't matter what the KC think as a side effect is greatly reduced testicular size so judges would know and most would consider them to be abnormal or even missing.
My boy had it put in Jan 09 and still has testies as small as an 8 wk old pup but as a veteran ie almost 11 its not an issue for him or me.

I was warned before doing it he could remain 'castrated' for life but as he'd got an enlarged prostrate I wasn't worried about his show career any more. Its expected to wear off after a yr but to be releasing hormones for 6mths so if youw ant to continue using and showing a male I wouldn't advise it Tardak effects are shorter lived.

There is the (known) side-effect of the shrunken testes returning to the abdominal cavity to watch out for, which can cause a problem if the dog is wanted for showing or breeding later on.

Just curious as to how this can occur in adult dogs ? My understanding of canine physiology suggests inguinal canal closure at approx 6mths so there should be no way the testes could assend back through the inguinal canal to the abdomen ?
K

I would assume it is the shrinking of the testes that would allow this to possibly happen, and is the reason that after a certain stage a retained teste up beyond the inguinal ring won't descend once too big.
