I am  looking to buy a staffordshire bullterrier from a breeder that is involved in the show side aswell. The dog i get will be a pet first but if it has the quality to be a show dog i will show it.The question i want to ask is.Will a show breeder be intrested in letting me take a pup that they think has potential to do well.

i can only speak from my experience but my last dog was from a Crufts Champion breeder and was happy to offer me puppies he thought would do well at showing and also give me advice on what to look for to get the best pup.

If your new to showing then they would be happy to mentor you as well. So complicated that you need a helping hand to get started.

My boy's going to a "pet" home.  They weren't really interested in showing but have met up with me and my dogs at local shows and when they saw a photo of him in a stand position they said that they are seriously thinking of showing him.  In reality it all depends upon your interest, whether the breeder has space to keep their hoped "show" dogs around.

Of course they will Rob.  Any breeder worth their salt wants a good loving home first and foremost for their pups.

Good breeders are subjective I think, and one persons opinion may differ from anothers when talking about specfic breeders.  You need to go on your gut instinct sometimes.
Have you been to many Stafford shows or got talking to some of the show people there?  That's always a good basis to start on, and then you can see the type of dog you like and so on.

Off topic, but at LKA I was in the champion stakes with a  lovely white pied staff bitch of 6 years.  She was just (for me) the right mix of terrier and bull, not too overdone or slight.

Thank you for your advice
