I don't want to bother my hairdresser on the phone even though she's a friend as i know she is very busy right now..

Well here goes, i decided that my blonde highlights just weren't suiting me, so decided to go back brown. I was told and have done the right thing by putting in a brown semi with a red tint to it. I also then got another semi which was darker and richer in colour.. Now i have far too much red in my hair and need to get rid of it.
Anyone know what is the right tone now to put over it. I may have to end up very dark brown, but just wondered what tone as red looks terrible on me. Blue's and purple's are also out too...

opps,the dreaded do it yourself,
i trained as a hairdresser and i can tell you that if it is an 8 wash semi it will fade and wash out, any other length of time will not wash or fade out completely, the same if you have to mix two bottles together it is not semi even if it says it on the box, now,you could do the sensible thing and dont go out,and wait till the hairdresser fixes it!! or you could try washing it a few times,or put a darker brown over the top, you should go for a brown with the words ash in it as anything that has warm or red tones will go red and fade, and the same with anything with the words copper or golden will fade and not to a nice colour so,i would really leave it, but if you cant, get a box of a good make dye with the colour ash brown, if you have some vaseline put it all around the hairline and your ears to stop it staining the skin, and do not be tempted to leave it on longer as it will go dark, usually when buying a brown dye it tends to go one shade darker than the picture on the box anyway, and also be careful if you have a sensitive scalp. I know how you feel, i was blond for years then i decided at home i wanted that gorgeous real red look, sadly i came out looking like pink candy floss hehe, then i went black for a while(what we do when we are young ) and now i am a good old brown again,
good luck

Your joking about the more than 8 washes time frame not being semi.. I knew that putting any type of brown over a blonde would be a 'no going back'.

Did speak to my hairdresser before doing this and she told me what colour to get, don't think either anticipated me going this dark..
Right now for a dark ash brown. Hoping that will work, but before that a couple of washes with head and shoulders as that i know strips colour out..

Not a hairdresser but have been colouring my hair since 12 years old and have had a few disasters along the way!

After bleaching you didn't need a red, but a warm colour, (warm light brown, warm medium brown etc) which would have had some red it in - but not an ash colour, which would have turned the beached hair green.  Done it and got the t-shirt! :)

I would wash your hair a few days running with Head and Shoulders, which will remove some of the red semi permanent, then get yourself a permanent warm light brown shade, which will give you a rich but not a red colour and not be too dark.  The colours always turn out a litter darker than on the box!

west coast i did not say put an ash on to highlights, i would put an ash brown on now,and as you can see her hairdresser agrees,
head and shoulders a good option for removing some colour but i expect all shampoos will help fade it to a degree, it will look lovely in the end,and it will be worth it,and a lesson well learnt

The last colour i put on my hair was 'chocolate'.. I am trying to get a golden brown in it, but with all the red i don't think that will be an option for the moment.. Think will just let it be and see what happens before i try another tone to it..

Still a lot of colour coming out with washing my hair, so when the water starts to run clear i'll try another colour, which maybe after Xmas my hairdresser maybe able to do it herself..

Thanks for all your help guys...
