Topic Dog Boards / Showing / judge rcc question
- By fushang [gb] Date 16.12.09 23:39 UTC
hi, ive read on here before that it is not wise to enter at an open show under a judge which has given you a RCC. Is this the same for a champ? Can they still give you a CC after a RCC?

Don't see why not -surely we all enter under judges we know like our dogs? If you're after a ShCM for instance it would make perfect sense to enter an open show under a judge that has already awarded your dog an RCC. And yes of course they can award your dog the CC at another show -different show, different competiton etc. :)

Thankyou

You'd be a fool not to enter under a judge that's given you a RCC.  In their eyes it means that if the CC winner is disqualified for any reason then your dog is worthy of a CC.  (well that was the old wording haven't had one for a looooong time!)

I have only ever gone on to get a CC from a judge that's given me a RCC sadly but hey, I'd be glad of a RCC these days ;-)

It took 3 attempts at entering Mia under Frank Kane to win a CC.  First time, just out of junior - RCC.   Second time - breed club champ show - RCC & RBIS then bingo!  Windsor she won the CC!  And he remembered her name too!  ;-)

I can't wait to show under FK, he seems a wonderful man from what everyone has said..

Good luck at the show

I have always found him to be polite, always looks at your dog thoroughly and isn't swayed by the faces unless they do truely have the best dogs there. Thats what I have found in my breed anyway.

Likewise. A very fair, honest judge who treats everyone with courtesy and every dog with kindness and a fair appraisal, regardless of who's holding the lead.

I agree too -he's very kind and helpful and friendly. Just needs to read up a tiny bit on our breed standard, or correct his eye measure as he always claimed one of my bitches was too tall when she's an inch below the max height for a bitch. ;)

I've shown under Frank Kane at a few open shows, we did really well. I spoke to a lady I knew and she said he does like good movement. He spoke very quiet, so it was hard to understand what he said sometime's. Very nice man though, there should be more judge's like him. He handled my small breed very calmly!!!

A friend was at a West country Open show a few years ago where he was the judge.

He had been judging all day yet was really helpful to a Novice exhibitor of a large hound breed, showing her how to present the dog etc.  this really impressed my Friend more than how he judged her own dogs.

I have met him on a number of occasions, but have yet to show under him that I can remember, but hope to have the opportunity at some point.

I was impressed by his concentration at Richmond, we had a large classification and yet when it came to the CC he called each dog out that he wanted to move again announcing...."please bring out the Undergraduate winner - the mid limit" etc and remembered which dog had won what - without reference to notes.
In so many dogs that's quite impressive. In his critique later I got a paragraph........ a standing joke with friends.....we get fed up with the
" nice head - moved well" kind of a crit. FK's was fullsome and explanatory.

Another post in praise of Frank Kane here; he gave my girlie a 1st against some very nice dogs at Windsor earlier this year and a great critique.  As others have said, his judging seemed thorough but gentle.  Would definitely enter under him again.
