Topic Dog Boards / General / Present pinching pooches

I spent a few quid last weekend on some pressies for my troop. I haven't wrapped them yet they're still in my 'best room' out of bounds to dogs.

So my Goldie aged 11yrs that should know better has been in to 'out of bounds best room' and found the pressies, 3 times, and it involved a lot of GR type snuffling and rooting, I know cos I filmed the liittle cow at it.!!!

She comes in to the doggie friendly room all waggy tailed with a 'look what I've got type of expression', she won't let the new toy go and I keep letting her have them.

At this rate my dogs are going to cost more than my kids ;)

I would close the door to the best room if there was one there but I'm waiting for OH to put up my new doors, they've only been missing since April so the wait is only short :( :( :(

My Chrimbo tree is also a point of attention, so when will my oldies learn that Santa comes once a year and they can't have the pressies till then

Oops.. Any chance that you can hide them in a cupboard out of their reach, like a kitchen cupboard or your wardrobe?

Cheeky monkey :)

Buster hasn't bothered with the presents under the tree, allthough he loves to open his, he's far too lazy and will wait untill it's handed to him on Christmas morning *rolly eyes*.

My sisters Boxer on the otherhand just could not wait! Sis told me she had been wrapping pressies, nipped to the loo leaving a bag of dog pressies hidden under her quilt on the bed. Whilst in the bathroom she heard 'squeek....Squeeky.....SQUEEEEEKKKK' and came back in to see the dog had moved the quilt, opened the bag and helped herself to a sqeeky, fluffy reindeer :-D

My house is small so cupboard space is coveted, it just tickled me to see this silly old bat act like a child pinching sweeties :) she should know better!
It's bad enough when your children take a sneaky peak at the chrimbo pressies but not the dogs too!!
And I reckon the others wait and watch for her to be naughty so they can reap the benefits.

Yep I've got one of those type pooches.
Do new toys have a special 'I must have it now type smell' cos when I get back from pets r us they all leap on me like things gone mad, talk about kids and a sweetie shop, I'm sure they know where I've been.

I have a naughty little pooch sat underneath my desk doing his best 'I'm sorry, I couldn't resist' face as I type.

The little monkey went into the nice lounge, picked one soft & fluffy present from under the tree and took it upstairs for a private play. I am quite impressed at his present opening skill, not a bad attempt as it is his first 'real' Christmas! Not ripped apart as you might expect but lovingly dissected.

Have told him off for opening one of my mum's gifts and not one of mine ;)

On the subject of dogs and Christmas wrapping, I have been looking through last years photos and found an absolute cracker. Mason was very little, not fully house trained so on Christmas morning amid all of the rush and excitement OH forgot to take him straight out for a widdle. We gave him his present (a long soft snake that he destroyed in a few hours) and took a picture as he was ripping off the paper. We managed to snap him mid wee on the carpet with a look of absolute joy on his face as he did so. If I could work it out, I would upload it! It is brilliant! (it wasnt so much at the time, I might add!)

I get mugged when I get back from Pet shops too! They must know. One of my keesie girls spent her first few christmas times bringing me presents from the tree....not wrapped presents....she likes to pull the removable branches off of the artificial tree and run round with them like trophies. She sits and watches us put it up every year. as soon as its finished....off come the branches one at a time.

My dogs like opening presents too and so they have to be put away until Christmas. I had a cat who liked opening presents as well. She would open hers then open any others she could get her paws on. One year I bought a lovely chunky sweater for a friend of mine, and even though it was in a cupboard she somehow managed to sneak into the cupboard and she opened the present pulling several threads in the process!

Mine never touch a thing the pressies are all under the tree and safe as houses. The only thing I do catch them at is sneaking into the spare room where we store sacks of dog food and checking the floors for the odd biscuit that missed the storage bowls.

My xmas tree has been murdured.... i think the cat started it and judging by the fact that all the baubles had been removed, and all on the dogs mattress and none damaged, I suspect super soft mouth pointer had a paw in it too !!

First time for everything they usually totally ignore the tree....
