- By Tanya1989 [ru] Date 14.12.09 17:34 UTC
well, id love to lie to you all and tell you I'm the one who is in charge in this house... but my mum has always taught me to tell the truth, so i have to be honest..... my 2yr old border collie rules the roost!

so, who rules yours? be honest!

for fun only

Who's your "pack leader"?

Me.

They all do what they want but I let them....fair enough I'd say. :-)
- By inthemistuk [gb] Date 14.12.09 17:47 UTC
my fella! he is like a giant silver back and keeps the dogs and me under control
no easy feat i can tell you....
- By Moomins [gb] Date 14.12.09 17:49 UTC
I am most definitly, I am the pack leader of our 7 who are all happy to follow me, thanks to Cesar!
- By Tanya1989 [ru] Date 14.12.09 17:57 UTC

- By Sarah Date 14.12.09 18:20 UTC
Even I am scared of me ;-)
- By Gemini05 Date 14.12.09 19:19 UTC
i am of course! Human and dog pack leader, my 4 dogs follow me everywhere, move out the way when i walk towards them! One of my girls steals everyones heart and they all ask if they can take her home, i say yes go ahead, but they never get any further then the front door! As she will not leave her leader! I love dog walks when my pack follow behind me heels in a big open field! I would love for them to run across the field but they stay with me always :)

lol at this  lol

Obviously of my dogs there is a canine pack leader (Ripley the oldest bitch) as humans are never part of a pack no matter what the out of date trainers say. :) Of the humans, I don't really know, but the cats tend to be able to make us do what they want. ;)
- By Dill [gb] Date 14.12.09 21:48 UTC
I'm top bitch here - I'm the only one who's had two litters :-D :-D both my older bitches have only had one litter each, so I win LOL

Apart from that, whenever I go out they clearly wait for my return.  If we're all walking together, the girls respond to me rather than OH and son and if I'm out of sight they look for me.   But being Bedlingtons I'm only top bitch because they let me be, they are just as likely to slope off if they find an interesting scent while we're out and can go deaf at times LOL
- By MsTemeraire Date 14.12.09 21:50 UTC
Marianne: did you not find with your cats, that those who had had litters were more senior?

Marianne: did you not find with your cats, that those who had had litters were more senior?

No, the total opposite. It has always been the neuters in charge here. The current two highest ranking cats are a male Persian neuter and a male Maine Coon neuter, neither of which were bred from before being neutered. I've only once had a top cat that was female and had been bred from, it seems to be the male neuters all the time. I even have a breeding queen who is right at the bottom of the pecking order.
- By ClaireyS Date 14.12.09 22:09 UTC
In my house the dogs were here before my OH, so when he moved in he came in at the bottom and thats where he has stayed   they will do what he says but grudingly, Fagan (the top dog) will sit in his seat if he gets up at any point in the evening and if im not home will do naughty things like get on the bed and refuse to get off !!!  When they stay with my mum they only take notice of her and not my dad !!! lol, they know that women rule ;)
- By Dakkobear [gb] Date 14.12.09 22:46 UTC
In our house the cats most definitely rule, I'm a close third - but Bramble will put everyone in their place if necessary!! :-D :-D
- By goldie [gb] Date 14.12.09 22:54 UTC
I would say its close between me and abby our 15yr old cat...when she stares at the girls,no one answers back.
- By MsTemeraire Date 14.12.09 23:41 UTC
What happens if there are no neuters in the household?
And on another tack, have you any experience of what may occur when a new puppy is brought into a house where the resident dog (of opposite sex) might be fear aggressive... can it be done...!
- By Otterhound Date 14.12.09 23:48 UTC
I've got both neutered and intact dogs in the same "pack" and never had any problems. My almost 14 yro Lurcher rules the roost and he's neutered. Although the lines are smudged and no rule is absolute. I've never had any problems introducing pups but my own dogs are used to other dogs coming and going since I do rescue.
- By STARRYEYES Date 15.12.09 00:09 UTC
I am ..my son says to me whats it like to be adored as  the dogs follow me everywhere, two of my girls wont go for a walk without me they get as far as the gate then refuse point blank to go any further looking back as the front door for me.
As for the dogs my oldest girl Ellie is definitely top dog although she is very quiet and reserved she only has to look at the other two and they let her have what she wants without question.
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 15.12.09 01:37 UTC
I do, but nobody notices.
- By Carrington Date 15.12.09 09:33 UTC
Me!

The female spieces are generally the pack leaders particularly when it comes to the home and family. :-)

Tanya, tut, tut, how can you let a wee male dog be the pack leader. :-D Sending you a book on assertiveness. (With praise and reward of course. :-) )
- By mastifflover Date 15.12.09 11:15 UTC Edited 15.12.09 11:27 UTC
Me, but I do think the cat is trying out for the top-spot though, she keeps my OH, kids & the dog in check. The cat & I have a sort of mutual respect where we don't push each other too much LOL (or, she'll bite me ) :)
- By Merlot [hu] Date 15.12.09 11:25 UTC
I am...my dogs told me so!! thats why I always do what they tell me too!! ;) ;) ;)
Aileen
- By emogenebull [gb] Date 15.12.09 13:41 UTC
I'm the pack leader in my house, over the dogs and cats, if  I tell the cats out, they go out, my bitch tried to be top dog, but i soon put her in her place, she is third in command, my daugther is second.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 15.12.09 13:44 UTC
We don't have a pack, so no need for a pack leader!
- By kenya [gb] Date 15.12.09 13:46 UTC
Love it Aileen, thats like my house, except the cat rules!!!
- By qwerty Date 15.12.09 13:54 UTC
me of course, the dogs take the pee out of my OH..he tells them to lie down and they both get on his knee on the sofa and go in for full on kisses and cuddles! they know he's a push over!
Out of the animals, sadie my 3yr old gsd is top dog at the moment, but she was neutered 2months ago and with a 8month old BC catching her up, i have a feeling this may change.

As for my cat..well she is just nooorty, waking the dogs up when sleeping, enjoys playing chase and just generally winding the dogs up!..she aint no boss..more like an annoying sister!
- By karenclynes [gb] Date 15.12.09 15:26 UTC

Ditto, I've got three girls and their relationship is very fluid and things change all the time :-)
- By tooolz Date 15.12.09 15:53 UTC
I read the OP as.....

"for fun only Tanya x "
- By Zaska [gb] Date 15.12.09 16:08 UTC
I'll let you know as soon as they decide - new dog in the house so it's all a little up in the air at the minute! ;)
- By Jewel [gb] Date 15.12.09 17:32 UTC
I am very much in charge of dogs, children, horses and cats. None of them listen to the OH much if I'm being honest :-) In fact I would say second in command is my oldest bitch and she steps in at any time that she feels I need a little help enforcing the rules (much to my boys disgust LOL)
- By dogs a babe Date 15.12.09 20:36 UTC
My life is completely structured around the needs of my children and dogs - I just don't tell them that!!
- By Tanya1989 [ru] Date 15.12.09 20:57 UTC
hehehehehe :-)
- By Pinky Date 15.12.09 21:18 UTC
I am the alpha female in this house, I have produced a litter.
The alpha male, my OH has provided annoyance to the best of his ability!

My 6 dogs know their place. ;)
They know the rules and so do I.

If the settee is empty it must be filled, if the water bowl is empty it must be filled, if the food bowl is empty another meal is due soon and it must be filled, if over eating of grass, chicken feed or turd causes up chuck it must be removed.!!!

Alpha female is in charge and she knows her place!!!!!!!
- By magica [gb] Date 15.12.09 22:12 UTC
I wouldn't say I'm a pack leader....No walking Cesar like behind me or beside me for that matter. I'm  just  "mum" who when I say something vitally important everyone takes heed!  No growls, squabbles or arguments which in my mind is the main thing to a harmonious household so mum is chilled most of the time. Must say when I'm out they do take full advantage of the situation and sleep on my bed, find and eat my chocolate biccy stash!
- By bilbobaggins [gb] Date 15.12.09 23:03 UTC

> Alpha female is in charge and she knows her place!!!!!!!

Sounds about right!
- By Eden [us] Date 16.12.09 07:12 UTC
The youngest female of my dogs rules the roost. When she wants something she wont stop grumbling until she gets her way!!This goes for me and the rest of the dogs :-D She reminds me of a spoiled 2 year old child.

None of my dogs will go for walks with anybody but me :( A pain in the butt at times,it means i never get a day off!
- By BarkingMad16 [gb] Date 16.12.09 14:19 UTC
I am their guide rather than pack leader.  They all just get along and fit in with our family, very harmonius.
- By Dizzystaffords [gb] Date 17.12.09 17:37 UTC
Im the Pack leader here! nIm a scorpio and a woman, nuff said lol!!
My stafford boy wont even let me go to the loo without checking!! lol :-)
