oooo i think it comes away about a week after pups are born,i honestly cant remember lol.im sure its around the week mark, everything ok?

Thanks for that, i read somewhere it was two weeks, and i was so worried as about 3 of them have already come off and they are 3 days old, i thought mum might of been pulling them.

Is it normal for some of them to lose a bit of blood when they come away, also is there anything i should be doing? cleaning the site ec

Thanks again

2 of mine ha a tiny amount of blood ,mum should keep them clean ,if they start to weep just let the vet have a look but sound very normal.

i wouldnt worry about them too much.as long as your whelping box/bed is cleaned daily some do twice a day ;-)

i certainly wouldnt clean it with anything other than cotton wool ball and cooled boiled water and that would be only if it was pouring with blood and obvioulsy id apply slight pressure.

let mum do the cleaning, its best to interfere as less as u can.they should be very dry and shrivled things that fall off??

i d remember one of my pups had a very tiny bleed when i noticed her UC came away, but again i gave her to mum and said clean it and that was the last of it.
if your worried about anything call the vet.sometimes just a phone call will help settle you.x

Had the same happen with a pup myself.  The bitch took it far too short.  I thought it looked fine.  Pup already booked, but won't let it go until after Christmas.  Which is just as well!  8 weeks old tomorrow, and the hernia showed for the first time today!
