Hi can anyone help, I've been thrown into hand rearing 3 toy puppies when my bitch got acidentially pregnant and had mastitis and then had no milk.

The pups are two weeks old today and I have been handrearing them for 1 week. I'm using lactol and the bottle says to feed every two hours until 21 days then reduce to every four hours.

So is this right or can I leave longer between feeds now?

they still need to be feed every 2h in the day and could go every 3h in the night if their taking good amounts ? ,you can try to wean them in another week ,these pups here are 12days old now and il be trying them next weekend .hope this helps fizzy .

i wouldnt be weaning toy puppies at three weeks.large breed yes if theyre ready bt small puppies no.just me i suppose.
i would be OFFERING  every two hours just like mum would.keep a weight record for each puppy,and a record of how much that puppy drinks at that specific feeding time you will soon know who like to be fed more or less and how often too.i reckon it'll only take two days of day and night feeds to know whos gutsy and whos happy to take it in thier stride.

I have a medium size breed, when I had to hand rear a litter I did it up to 2 weeks, then the pups managed from a bowl/dish, obviously with guidance and I watched them closely, they actually did a lot better once they started feeding on their own.
