I need a new door mat for the back door what do you recommend ? it needs to be easily  washable and will get mud off shoes when the humans walk in I still haven't taughtthe dogs to wipe their feet !. Not heavy mud just light dirt ?

Depends on how much you want to spend. 'Turtle Mats' are fabulous but pricey. They are excellent and last for years though. I tend to buy mats that are made the same way but cheaper brands. I've just replaced the one by the front door after 7 years. It was still in good condition but we'd decorated and the colour clashed !.

I bought one at Wilkinsons for a fiver - normal doormat size, machine washable, and really does absorb moisture - yep it even stops wet pawprints on the kitchen floor. (Providing said dog hasn't chewed it up or skidded it sideways in the rush to get out for a wee!). Bigger ones are - predictably - a tenner but they were always mysteriously sold out when I went to look.
