My bitch is due any day, she has been fussy over food the last 3 weeks or so, well this morning she refused her breakfast of fresh chicken and has only drank a small a mount of water and some lactol. Would it be worth mixing her up some glucose with water? I have been offering her food all day, but she just walks away from it.

i never give any milk before pups are born it can stop mum from holding on to calcum when pup start feeding from her ,i found glucose good when whelping to give energy but i wouldnt give it for then as it could give her the runs it is sugar after all ,she maybe in the 1st stages? and thats why she dont want food ,if shes drinking water at the mo i wouldnt worry give her the glucose when whelping and a big dish of milk when shes had the pups to get her milk going ,good luck x

If your girl hasn't got long to go, I say this is perfectly normal.  If she doesn't want her food, I'm pretty certain that she won't starve!  :-)

Sometimes they are packed out so tight that eating makes them feel even more uncomfortable.

Yes, all the above sounds perfectly normal..I give our girls a small amount of glucose in their water while they are whelping ...as normally with our girls anyway in-between pups they sometimes want a drink so I give them glucose then to give them  energy. I also put a small amount in the bitches water for a couple of days after just to give her a lift / pick me up. I havent had any problems as far as them having upset tummies with it.
