my dog has been shivering all day, he has eaten and is passing stools, but he is not himself,. yesterday he caught and ate a rabbit he also after chasing the rabbit has now got a slight limp? any ideas cpould the shivering be a sign of pain possibly the limp?

he is in his bed, and looking at him his breathing is quite rapid, but like I said he is eating and having bowel movements he dosen't feel hot, what could this be?

I'd strongly advise you to take him to your vet.

It sounds very unhealthy and I too think you must contact a vet.

I would get him to a vet asap as it could be any amount of things relating to shivering.

this happened a few months back with my toy poodle, she was the same laying on her bed shivering also going to the toilet & eating ok, this went on for a couple of days so took her to the vet [she is very nervous], vet couldnt see anything wrong as she leapt into my arms absoloutly petrified!! only a slight high temp, so gave her antibiotics and pain killer, over the next few days she seemed to get better then one morning i took her out into the dog paddock and as she squatted down to have a wee her back leg seemed to give way and she ran of screaming, i took her back to the vets and when i put her on the floor her back legs touched her fronts but she wasnt paralysed as when the vet pinched her toes she pulled them back, then the vet started saying she would have to be reffered to newmarket for a scan,[ shes not insured], so i said could we try steriods, [ as i have daxis and seen them go of their legs [not mine]],so thats what we did cage rest and 1 steriod for 2wks then half for the last 2 weeks, and i have to say after 3 days in the cage she was being naughty by standing up on her back legs so we let her out but didnt let her jump up or down just carrying her every where and now touch wood she is fine although a little unsteady on her back legs and she does scrape her nails on the floor which she always did anyway, but i do try and stop her chasing the others around when their on one ,i know she has to be a dog but she is my little girl, so hopefully you got your dog to the vet before something happened like my girl
