i have a bitch that is 12 days into possible pregnancy, its too ealy to scan !!

i bathed her after her season and she has 2 large hot spots appeared on the side, the
vets are worried about how to treat her because nothing is licensed for use in pregnant bitches,
they have suggested rilexine and a cleanser because fuciderm shouldn't be used, has anyone else
had this dilema ??? they have some puss on them and look nasty and am cleaning them with
very diluted hibiscrub but is there anything anyone else has used because of course if she is in whelp
i have to get rid of the hotspots before the pups arrive, nightmare situation !!

You could try Colloidal Silver. I used it on my bitch when she was in pup.

I didn't use it for hot spots, I used it to clean her ears out but I've heard lots of people use it for hot spots with great success.

Benzyl Benzoate is OK for pups but you'd need to check for an in whelp bitch.
I know of someone who used gentian violet on a pregnant bitch for hot spots.  Didn't work quite as quickly as benzyl but certainly did in a couple of days and much quicker than usual Vet remedies.  It was OK for them but again ask your Vet.

This will sound like right madness and possibly not usable remedy if the hotspot is very "angry" and large....
But last year I heard of apple cider vinegar being great for hotspots.

Luckily my current girl does not suffer from hotspots, never had one before, but suddenly few months ago, had two spots(only about size of a pound coin when I spotted them but in very ready to spread - state, wet, puss etc).

As I was told about the vinegar by people who I trust I decided to try and it really worked!
Advise was to NOT to cut the hair on the area, use apple cider vinegar 1/3 and water 2/3, just use cotton wool and wipe the spots 3-4 times a day, so that the hair gets moistened by the mix and the crust softens and can be gently picked...when the area starts to calm, clean with the mix and blow dry...

My previous girl would get hotspots all the time, compared to any remedy we ever tried with her(from antibiotics, creams etc), this was the quickest healing I have seen!
Hibiscrub is supposed to be pretty good too and I don't think people dilute it loads and loads when using it for hotspots?
Never tried it myself as only had that one episode with my current girl...

I recently had this nightmare with Inka when she went to Scotland with my friend, a week into the trip she broke out majorly (an allergic reaction to something my vet said).

We used dilute hibiscrub and rubbed in Aloe Vera Gel, and then Vaseline into the crusts to keep them soft and minimise coat loss.  She has just one little mark in her coat to show for it, and it was bad.

Loosing the coat may not be an issue with an unshown Pet dog, but with a coated breed it would have taken until the next moult for her to not look moth eaten with uneven coat growth.

I always find if I can get the air in it helps it clear a lot quicker.  Depending on where it is I have used everything from kirbys, hair elastic bands to hair gel to keep it off the hotspot and save cutting the hair away.  I have used Hydrogen peroxide 3% solution diuted with 50% water.  I have also used the Benzo with success too.
