Can any one tell me please if a Blue -Ray film would work on a dvd recorder that does not have Blue-Ray.
what is happening is my computer has Blue -Ray and to find out if it is working I bought a Blue-Ray film.
on the computer it is not playing. it says no disk. but ordinary films play okay as I don,t have anything else with Blue -Ray
I tried the film in a dvd recorder that does not have Blue-Ray and again it does not play just says no disk
now I don,t know if the film is faulty or the computer hence my question as I am not tecky minded
To me if an ordinary film plays on Blue-Ray I would have thought it would also work that a Blue-Ray
would have worked on an ordinary dvd  but without the special effects
hope some one can help

You will need a Blu-ray player to watch a Blu-ray film.  Most new systems are 'backwards compatible' meaning that you can play normal DVD on them - however it does not work the other way round!

There is talk of flipper discs which will have DVD on one side and Blu-ray on the other but I'm not sure if these are widely available yet (2010 maybe?)

I found good information at Amazon when we were looking at Blu-Ray recently.  HTH :)

I'm not sure how Blu-ray plays on your PC but it's worth checking if you are using the correct drive.  If you have 2 or more disc drives it's likely that only one will be OK for Blu-ray.  This blu-ray site might help.  Good luck with this

You need a Blue-Ray player, a Play Station 3 plays Blue-Ray discs, if that helps.
