we have just got a kingsize bed but unfortunately john lewis have sent me super kingsize duvet cover as they have no king size in the cover i want as its now discontinued. I really like the cover and was wondering about changing the actual duvet to a super kingsize (kingsize still in box unwrapped so easy to change) BUT would a super kingsize look far too big for the bed and should i set out to find another duvet cover?

thanks

Should look fine.

When we had a double bed always had a king size duvet on it as it didn't move around as much!

that depends on just how lost you want to get under the duvet ;-)
i have a king size bed and a few weeks ago i treated myself to a new king size duvet as my old one was a bit tatty, now i normally buy a cheap one every year or so but this time i went for a good one cost me £35.00 , were id normally pay £10'er ,
and its so true that you get what you pay for its HUGE and alot heaver than the cheap rubbish i normally get, and is plenty big enough for the bed already, personaly i would stick with the duvet king size and change the super king size cover but its really up to what you would prefur,

I brought back some bedding from America, not realising that their sizes were so different from ours. I just got out the sewing machine and made them smaller. 2 straight lines, so really easy. Would this be an option for you?

I really cant sew - the closest i get to doing anything like is with wonder webb!! and i have in the past stappled up the hem of my  son's trousers when he was at primary school as didnt have any sewing stuff.

I could get a freind to alter it but think when the bed arrives later i will put the kingsize duvet on it and see how it fits, if theres plenty of over hang i will change the cover.

Ditto BUT if it's the only duvet cover you think you can love, then get it altered.  I use a local seamstress/alterations place for sewing jobs and they generally don't charge much for this sort of job.  It may beyond you and me but they seem to think it easy enough! :)

It's amazing, when you consider there must be thousands of designs on the market, how difficult it is to find bedlinen you like.  I spent a fortune on some gorgeous, high thread count stuff only to realise it needs ironing to look its best.  Life is a bit short to iron bed linen, but...

For my birthday Dave bought me a duck down quilt for 120 pounds..it reminds me of my childhood and i hate getting out of bed even more now!
its a kingsize  and is great for wrapping yourself up in and keeping warm and cozy!

We have a kingsize bed with a super kingsize quilt, the quilt is off the floor about six inches on either side, but I like plenty of quilt so when the pooches decide to get up, your back is still covered !!

agree with other comments - my only thought would be if you went with S/King bedding you might be restricted in future with buying it?? King Size is more popular I think?? (could totally be wrong)

We have a double bed (I actually wanted King but o/h likes the double - it's a Victorian brass bed-stead I've had years) and my duvet is King  and I love it hanging over ;)

My Mum gave me a duck feather mattress topper which is king size but I still put it on the bed, my fitted dbl sheets are a bit snug over it but it's lovely to lie on, plus I have a great duck down duvet so when I change the bed linen it's the best feeling to get into a clean bed :)

I would never have thought of going to local seamstress - that's a fab idea, I bet it won't cost much and you get exactly what you want! :)

I've got super king size bedding and i don't have any problems finding covers for the duvet at all, the only thing you will come across is the price, not so cheap. Mine is from Habitat, and i don't have any problems squeezing the duvet into a king size(british size) cover either.
Most of my covers come from Habitat in the sales. I love wrapping myself up in one and if you have to share a duvet its a lot better to have more duvet than have none when someone rolls into it??

Yes, if you have a duvet hogger that like to roll over and pinch all the duvet, those extra inches will come in very handy.

stuck with the super king cover and brought a superking feather & down duvet, kingsize being returned. The bed is quite high so doesn't drag on the floor and looks better i think than the kingsize. Size after all does matter!!!
Looking forward to getting into it tonight!
