You get what you deserve in life your attitude towards people is uncaring. Being fat is a health problem as well as offensive to some people but i pay my way and always have. You arent paying for my surgery/ Im not having any, Im a non smoker. I'll bet you get a lot more out of the NH than I do as I have Private medical and have had for about 20 years so all my problems are at my cost. I would think most people who are FAT on here are making an effort to help themselves. As I said dont like the Topic choose another one, I for one are really pleased there are others out there like me taking their lives in hand and doing something about it.

More power to you all, Im fat and getting thinnner!!!! Stick with it you all!!!

You will be beautiful at size 10 or 12!!
- By Oldilocks [se] Date 02.12.09 08:23 UTC
In the world, there are attractive/beautiful fat people as there are unattractive/ugly thin people and vice versa.  By the same token, there are healthy fat people and unhealthy thin people!  Don't forget, beauty is from within and there is such a thing as an 'ugly' spirit!!  :) :)

That is great going Michd
- By Precious_stone [gb] Date 02.12.09 19:55 UTC
Gosh, you really are quite simply awful are you.

And I am sorry but it is a load of absolute bo*****s that there were no fat people in history, what a stupid small minded thing to say.
- By Precious_stone [gb] Date 02.12.09 19:57 UTC
Well said! :-)
- By Precious_stone [gb] Date 02.12.09 20:05 UTC
Thanks Jolene! I lost a pound, how did you do?

Whilst I don't always think in the long term it helps or works to loose lots of weight very quickly (although for some it does, which is great!) I had hoped to loose more. Buy hey ho, better off than on! :-)

For all of those trying to loose weight just thought I'd share this with you, its gorgeous! It's zero points on Weight Watchers too!

Butternut squash and red pepper soup:

1 butternut squash peeled and de-seeded
1 red pepper de-seeded
1 onion
2 pints of boiling water with a veggie stock cube in it.

Chop all up and stick in pan with the water, bring to boil and simmer until veg cooked and soft and puree. Add salt and pepper if you wish!

This makes about four big servings, and is obviously ok for veggies too!

If anyone does try it let me know what you think!

Well said Whistler!

I too probably cost the NHS less than FooFoo does.

I work, do not receive benefits, have no children, do not smoke, have never taken drugs and drink only very occassionally.

I have have had two ops in my life one on my foot as a child to remove a lump and a tonsilectomy (sp!) which was done privately.

Mind you - I probably had to have those ops because I was fat! I think not!!!

I did not say that obesity is as bad as it is now, but to say that, say 100 years ago everyone was skinny is a load of tosh!

God what a bitch.

Rubenesque take a long look at all pictures the ladies were positively huge.

Anyway ive lost another 3 lbs!!!!!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 09.12.09 11:35 UTC
I lost 3lb in two weeks, but yesterday I ate a bag of cashew nuts, that's about 1000 calories and my hubby had left a battered sausage from the night before and i snarfed it.

This morning standing on the scales looks like I have put 2lb back on.

Oh Foo Foo, how I wish it were as easy as you make it sound.

Two weeks of feeling hungry and deprived undone in a day, as I continued to eat the rest of my meals so hubby wouldn't cotton on, unfortunately eh went looking fro his left over sausage and fancied the cashews, and was cross with me, because he had just been congratulating me on sticking to the diet and it had deceived him.  Didn't help that I had killed our washing machine earlier by trying to wash a  king size quilt, so have just Had to order a new machine.

Yes I know girls that it is likely to come off again in a  few days or a week but it is so depressing.

LOL brainless, you have the same self-controll aorund tasty food as me (mmmmmmm cashew nut, yummmmmmyyyy) :)

Don't panick too much, that was very salty food you ate and will cause some water retention. Keep your fluid intake up and tomorrow the scales will be telling a nicer story :)

Oh FOO FOO Im not a drug addict either!!! I just have my head together at the moment and I have a lot happening in my life and Ive taken a grip on  it all and Im loving it!! Having to pack up your life and rebuild your house does that to you!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 09.12.09 11:53 UTC
Do any of you watch that program where they get a very heavy and a very skinny persona and for a week they eat what the other does.

The program shows how unhealthy both are (not concentrating solely on the overweight).

The skinny chap they showed  had no problem getting the food down that the overweight lady ate, he was just too lazy to cook or get food as his body didn't demand it.  A lot of the other too thin people actually have eating issues for similar reasons to the overweight people, but have opposite symptoms.

Did Foo Foo ever reply to my question of whether she is a healthy weight?

I have seen it once or twice, they have to share a house for a week, eating the meals the other would usually eat. Then after about 12 weeks, they come back to see if they have gained/lost the weight they were hoping too.

> A lot of the other too thin people actually have eating issues for similar reasons to the overweight people, but have opposite symptoms.

Yes. But sadly most of society don't consider thin as having any associated health problems and automaticaly assume thin=healthy & fat=unhealthy :(

ETA:

No she didn't. I too would be very interested.

> Oooohhh Sorry Mastiff Lover I am 5ft 6 and 11 stone and a size 12... :-) I used to be a size 16

I'm 5ft 7", 10 stone,  size 10/12 (28 inch waist) and I used to be a size 16. So despite not being over weight now, I do know how hard it is to loose weight (in fact I still have some to loose), which is why I have understanding for those that are desperately trying to loose weight without success. I'm one of those people that will always have to carefully monitor my food intake in order to not put weight on again.

I'm suprised at your atitude to others being that you were over weight yourself.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 13.12.09 00:29 UTC
well I didn't loose or gain this week, so my lapses in with the strict days made me stand still.

Only lost two pounds in two weeks, I can put half a stone in less time than that (as I did on honeymoon).
- By mastifflover Date 13.12.09 00:57 UTC

> I can put half a stone in less time than that (as I did on honeymoon).

Snap!
I got married when my youngest child was 3 years old, I had just managed to shift all the extra 'baby weight' (as I liked to fool myself thats what it was) and was very pleased with my new size and weight. I arrived at the honeymoon destination (Jamaica :) )weighing 9 & half stone, I left 2 weeks later and weighed just over 10stone  I had to blame it on the all-inclusive bar & food - nothing to do with me pigging myself and tying out EVERY coctail on the menue  ;)
Sadly, I lost heart with the diet then and my weight crept up & up over the years. I started to get a grip on my eating habbits last year, bit the bullet & bought weighing scales earlier this year and have finally stayed on track of loosing weight.
Christmas is a worrying thing though, all that lovely food in the house and me with no self-controll. I have allready demolished an entire pot of 'cheese footballs' in 1 sitting  and we are not supposed to be even eating the Christams goodies yet :( I think I am going to have to put a lock on the kitchen cupboards and get my OH to ration out the snacks :( :(

Still alot of room for improvement then :-O

> Christmas is a worrying thing though, all that lovely food in the house and me with no self-controll.

I am in exactly the same position.  I spend so much of my time restricting what I eat that when Xmas comes around I havn't eaten chocs, crisps, cakes, sugar, etc for so many months that I just have to have a bit of everything.  Unfortunately that adds up to a hole lot of something and everything I lost over the last few months goes straight back on.

I've always had to restrict my food but when I was 20 it just meant being hungry, now I'm 40 and dieting makes me tired, cold and slower mentally.  Also the endless hot drinks to keep me warm keep me running constanly to the loo!
- By Dogz Date 13.12.09 14:02 UTC
Why should we not be able to eat our meals, it is a bug bear of mine with a 14 yearold daughter.
I tell her repeatedly, to eat plenty of proper food at meal times, no worries about how much butter with jackets or whatever (we only have real butter here).
The weight she finally becomes should just fall into place. Provided meals are appropriate and regular, the need to snack should diminish.
Eat and indulge at Christmas and other holiday periods. So many youngsters are doomed because of 'finicky eating' before they have fully matured. A lot of weight problems are because of metabolism that has been messed with to soon.

My thoughts exactly Jolene!

I am 5ft 8 and at my lightest weighed 11stone 13lb and was still what most people would have called fat at that!

5ft 6 and 11 stone is not fat, but neither is it skinny so you really should take a good look at yourself FooFoo!

If this is a p*ssing contest, I'm 5'6" and 8½ stone, and a size 12 ... at my heaviest I weighed 10½ stone, but lost a lot of that the next day when I gave birth to my son!

You speak a lot of sense Karen, I wish my Mum had been more like that.

For the first 7 or 8 years of my life I was not allowed to leave the table until I had finished everything on my plate, which usually meant I was sat there until bed time :(

After that she suddenly changed and decided that I was 'too fat' and that I wasn't to be allowed any higher calorie foods.  She still would have the nice stuff there for my brother who was a 'growing boy' (although he was 2 years older than me).  I would have to sit and watch him eat things I was not allowed to touch, I wasn't even allowed to drink milk.

I remember feeling very resentful and competetive with food and used to plan ways of stealing it to reward myself the way my brother was constantly being rewarded.  As a young woman just left home I became bulimic which stayed with me on and off for a few years.

I don't have a normal relationship with food because I can't relax around it, it 'bothers me'.

The thing that annoys me the most is that when I look at photo's of me as a child, I looked a normal weight at the time I would just stop eating when I was full.  I didn't put the weight on until after my food was restricted.

....and extremely rude into the bargain!

So you have been a lardy-a**e in the past then?    And you managed to lose the weight?  Well good for you!

Does been rude come naturally to you, or do you have to work at it, as we we may be overweight have to work at losing weight? :)

Well I am a nice size 12 at 11stone, and am only 5' 4"

Don't know why because at 25 I was that size at 9 1/2 stone.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 13.12.09 17:55 UTC
It just goes to show that dress size is no indication of weight - and vice versa!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 13.12.09 18:00 UTC
So should we really be concentrating on an appropriate size for our height, and not the actual weight.

With our dogs when they reach full height as adolescents we find that if they are mature adult weight then they are likely to be fat, but by four years old they are heavier, but still not fat.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 13.12.09 18:13 UTC
Probably if we checked our correct weight the same way as we do for dogs - if you can feel the ribs without having to press through a thick covering! - we wouldn't be too far off the mark. We'd then be carrying the right amount for our individual frames.
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 13.12.09 18:26 UTC

> Probably if we checked our correct weight the same way as we do for dogs - if you can feel the ribs without having to press through a thick covering

Ah JG - if t'were only that simple :)......I can feel my ribs .....its just that the tum starts just below the ribs .....:(

And the years have not been kind to my arms, either .....bingo wings??   I can even get them jiggling with the belly dance  !

I must shift the belly weight - that's the most dangerous sort, apparently :(
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 13.12.09 19:21 UTC

>its just that the tum starts just below the ribs ...

It could be that your tummy muscles need toning (like mine do!) to hold the frontline smoother. In other words, no weight to lose, just redistribute and firm!

(Don't even mention bingo wings! I caught a glimpse of my upper arms the other day ... I'm doomed.)
- By Dogz Date 13.12.09 20:58 UTC
It's a simple case of middle age spread.

Sorry  but it's unavoidable unless you go down the madonna route (over 50s anyhow). Become all sinew and wrinkles.......

Karen :)
