Hi Patrice,
Welcome to the forum..... Yes, she will grow out of this, but it helps to follow a few rules to aid her in the meantime.
Ignore her until she settles down. If she piddles when you bend over to greet her-- don't bend over or allow anyone else to. Wait for her come up to you when she's calmer.
Watch her signs....if she's the type to roll over and piddle, walk or look away.
If she does the wag tail and tummy goes flat against the carpet to piddle, teach her to sit during her calmer moments.
Seriously, I've had this in a few dogs/puppies. Ignoring is the best method of dealing with it. No comments or signals of comfort or encouragement --she'll only think that you want this to continue.
It's also likely that in times of stress, this will be her first reaction throughout her life. I had a puppy that did this when she was 12 weeks old. It returned when she was about 14 months old. Turned out someone was tormenting her behind my back :( She stopped once I intervened.
So don't worry about it too much... and just try to mop up when she's not around. Or you could put plastic out on the carpet until she moves on.
hth,
regards,
toodles
