Dose anyone know where to get an electric nail grinder as everytime I use the clippers it splits the nails. I do not find the blades as sharp as they used to be or the metal is of poor quality.

I dremmel mine, brought from wickes

The one specifically for dogs (the name escaped me now) my husband saw for sale in Wilkinson the other day, he said it was £20 or was it £25 -I definitely intend to get one. Pedipaws or something I think it's called.

Yes it is Pedipaws, I saw them in Asda the other day for about the same amount but someone told me this week that they got the same ones on an Ebay shop for about £14 so it might be worth a look on there.

i brought one of ebay and to be honest a waste of money. I have whippets and a jack russel and i found it to big and bulky for them. It is really hard to get the nail in the grinder and hold on to the paw at same time. It would be good if you could get a loan of one before buying.

I use the Dremmel one too. Brilliant on the one dog that actually tolerates it, cant get near the others so I also use clippers and shave a little bit off at a time (black nails) and a pet nail file which is brilliant. Mikki do one in most pet shops but I got mine from ebay for about £3.

I got a pedipaw off ebay and i wouldnt bother complete waste of money, simpsons dog groomers do one but is out of stock at the moment so something like a dremmel, a friend of mine had a simpsons one and i borrow it once a week 3 bullmastiffs are over and done within 15 mins, the only time it takes longer is when intoducing one to a dog that had never had one used on them. Our pup is now 4 months and will quiet happily lay on the sofa and let me do her feet she was anightmare when i tryed to clip them and screaned the place down, now we always make sure shes last so she sits in her crate while the other 2 have theirs done, so when it come to her turn the noise does not bother her at all.

Hiya Pedlee,

Could you tell me is that one fairly quiet and do you use it inplace of clippers or just to tidy up edges.  Thankyou.

ETA, Pepe, I think looking at it that it is the same one as Pedlee has mentioned above.

I done my Whippets by hand for over 20 years using a file which has a naughty name! About 18 months ago I bought a Dremmel & it's fab, so quick. Why didn't I buy one much sooner??

Same question as above I am looking to use instead of clippers is that what everyone else dose.

i use the same one as Pedlee. bought it a couple of weeks ago from groomers..... absolutely brilliant. use it on a leo, black tough nails... would be a bit nervous to use it on a small breed nail as it doesnt take long to do my boys feet. but comes with many attachments for different size nails. not cheap, but much better than cheaper ones i have bought previously

dremmel brought on line,
really quick and the boys dont mind it.

karenclynes/pepe

It is relatively quiet and is a godsend when it compares to having to doing one of my Dobe's nails with a file - I can't even get near her with clippers! Well worth the money.

Thank you,

I wander if I can get this as a Christmas pressie, though the words, something for you and not the dogs were mentioned when I was asked what I wanted recently :-D  Sounds like it's worth the pennies though.
