Everyone is being so open - what a friendly forum!  Hi, I'm Linda, 43 years young, married for 19.5 years (doesn't seem that long!) with daughter of 15 and son of 13.  We have two Miniature Schnauzers which we adore.  I have worked mainly in marketing environments until I 'gave up' 9-6 hours to fit in with school hours.  So I now work as a teaching assistant in a school for children with special needs.  I have never looked back and love every day of work.

I love listening to music (all kinds) and playing the piano - which I play badly but with feeling.  I also love reading, going out, photograhy and gardening.  Oh and web surfing.

Hi, I'm Sarah
I'm 18. I have a white three and a half y/o Standard Poodle Polo that I used to show but I clipped off his coat when he was about two (however I was thrilled when he qualified for Crufts during our brief showing experience). I also have a rabbit named Cocoa, and we lost Polo's friend Holly the cat recently :(. I am finishing my A levels at the moment, and off to University next year hopefully. I love reading, writing and meeting new people as well as other hobbies such as singing and photography.

Well I guess I'd better join in too :)

I'm Melanie, I'm 40  and I live in South Wales with my second husband.

I was married first time round to a New Zealander for about 12 years and spent 13 years living out there.  In NZ I bought my 2 cats and 2 Chow Chows and brought them over to Wales with me.  We couldn't find anywhere to rent with the animals when we came back so we bought a 2 bed static caravan and lived in that for a year and a half whislt looking for the right house and added 2 pugs along the way. Once we moved ito our house we added a doberman to the mix.

I work in a call centre which is not very exciting but it is a good job for the area I am in so I am very grateful for it. My life is pretty much around my animals, brushing, bathing, hugging, etc.  Wouldn't change it for the world.
- By Dogz Date 26.11.09 21:37 UTC
It would be wrong not to join in here.

I'm 51, married (second time) to oh for almost 23 years, 3 children 26.22 + 14. Work as a partime physio aide in rehab, from neuro to amputations,(started nurse training many years ago and didn't finish) .
Currently have 2 Australian Terriers Jack 4 and Chelsea 21months. And no more creatures, Chelsea took to throwing around the tortoise so she now lives at the home of younger sons gf.
I like to go to bingo occasionally, dog things, locally mostly. I love to read and travel.

I wasn't going to post here because I've done so many times before :-D - but anyway - here goes again!

I'm Margot, and I do believe that I really am the oldest here (at least in years!) - I'm 66 years young - been married to Adrian for over 46 years - 4 offspring - 3 sons, 1 daughter - 1 dgs, 3 dgds.   Now owned and ruled by 2 aussies - Thor & Loki - & 2 labs (Freya & Dyssi - although latter young lady really belongs to No1 son, but we "babysit" her).

Have owned dogs all my life, and for over 40 years, we had labs whose lines we could trace back to our first lab owned by my dad - named after the lab belonging to a friend of his during WWII ...name of N***er .

OH & I have now  "retired" ...before deciding what we will be when we grow up ...so now sorting out our new home on the north coast of Essex. :)

I'm a 54 year old Essex girl :) although we have been partly living in Norfolk for the last 3 years renovating an old house. We finally leave Essex on the 14th Dec. We've been married for 28 years and have two children. Son (26) has just finished a PhD in Drug Design at Cambridge and is now working in Oxford for a pharmaceutical company. He got married in July so we now have a lovely DIL. Daughter (24) graduated from Loughborough Uni. in 2007 and has been working for a large insurance company in Bristol since then. We have two dogs - Bramble (12ish years young, Battersea stray) and Tara (7 year old Aussie). I'm not working at the moment, but trained as a management accountant in the electricity supply industry, but since having the children normally work in smallish companies doing the whole accounting function.

I'm 46 from the Kingdom of Fife (God's country :-D). I've been married for nearly 25 years, we have 2 girls, one 20 at University doing artificial intelligence and maths, the other one 15 and still at school.  I've been a lecturer for 19 years, but I worked as an engineer before that.

We have two dogs, Bramble a bernese mountain dog who is 5 and Treacle, a gordon setter who is 4 ( going on 18 months! :-D). We used to show our Swedish Lapphund, Dakko (see avatar) in the 90's, he died in 2005 and I still miss him. We also have two ragdoll cats, Maddie and Roxy who are 2, a semi-feral moggy called Sonny who is 10, a tortoise called Fluffy :-) who is 3, a budgie, Rolly who is 5 (I'm scared of birds but he is my daughter's ) and a horse called Molly who is nearly 19. Until earlier this month we had 3 rats too, Jasper, casper and Harry but they have all gone to the bridge :-( .

Fab post........ well done.
I am 43 (but act like a kid) I currently have 2 retired police dogs and a newly acquired Sphynx cat.  I was a police dog handler for 10 years until last November and my trusted friends came with me.  Recently undergone a back operation so I haven't been able to sit, bend, lift, twist or anything really for the last 5 weeks - 1 more week of being a prisoner in my own home left.  My partner has had to do absolutely everything incl walk the dogs etc.  I also show English Setters although I haven't had one of my own for about 8 years, I handle other people's and I also judge that breed at Championship show level.
I am currently studying a Dog Behaviour course which is fascinating and made me realise how behind the times some 'so called' professional dog trainers are particularly the ones I've worked with!!!
I am hoping to get an English Setter early next year as a dog I admire is about to become a father so finger's crossed he'll produce something classy for me to show.
My dream, should I win the lottery, would be to re-home rescue dogs who have been mistreated and would otherwise not be able to have a happy life ............ sadly I probably will not win my millions but if I do then it's already spent.
- By kerrib Date 27.11.09 16:37 UTC
ok, my turn! :-D  Haven't been on here for a while but tend to pop in and out every now and again.  I'm 37, been with my husband Harry (RAF Officer) for 12 years, married for 10 and we have 4 children; twin daughters who are 10, another daughter nearly 8 and finally a son who is almost 6.  Harry also has another son who is 13 from a previous relationship who stays at weekends.  I am ex-forces but since having the children I have been at home (had a part time job for a while but nothing exciting!).  Only have the one dog, Misty who is a 3.5 yo GR.  We also have Bob, an 18 year old moggie who is still going strong.

Been thinking of a new career for the past couple of years so finally made a decision in the summer to go back to College to kick start things.  Been there since September and although its hard work and takes most of my spare time up, its great fun!!

Ooh only just seen this and enjoyed nosying about everyone haha!

I'm Lindsey, I'm 32 (even though a certain best buddy still calls me 'the junior handler' :-))  I live on the Isle of Wight with my lovely OH Andy who is a plumber and gorgeous 9 year old son Brandon. I work as a dog groomer which I've been doing since I was 15! I love my job :-)

I currently have 2 bichon frise, Geordi and Oscar that I show, but have had the breed for over 20 years. We would love a boxer one day.

I love sci-fi (geek!) Star-Trek, Doctor Who etc.. I love going for walks with the dogs in the countryside and on the beach (when its not pouring..) I enjoy going to watch my Andy play in his rock band all over the country, I love all animals, I currently own 2 cats, tropical fish, a snake, a gecko and have had scorpions, insects and tarantulas in the past.

So thats lil ol me! :-)

I am over 70 have been married for 47 years to the same guy, wow! No kids
We have owned the same breed since 1970. 15 years ago I added a small breed so we have 5 dogs chickens and ducks. Live out in the country use to raise sheep. Due to my health we have had to cut down on our activities, so no more getting up at 4am and rushing off to dog shows. How lucky we are to have the internet and can keep track of what is going on. Recently I used Skipe to see pups in the USA is there no end to technology. Am a keen photographer and love my computer as well as my OH!
Thats about it for me. Good to get to know some of you, have used this site for some years.

Hello, I am now living on Lesvos even though I'm not a Lesvian, we came here for our Honeymoon in 2002 and came back in 2004 to buy a house and now we've moved here for at least part of the year. My name is Dawn, I'm 50, bionic and I'm an Alcoholic...whoops sorry wrong forum! I've been banned from AA for drinking...can you believe that? I'm working my way through all my hobbies and see which ones ban me or not...I play Saxophone, I sing, even sung with Cliff and Michael Ball and if you don't believe me I've appeared at the Royal Albert Hall for the Caron Keating Concert and we raised over 100,000 quids and I've even appeared in Hello magazine with Gloria Hunniford, so there nananenana! hehehe

I am a retired Nurse, used to work in and run the A&E Dept(please, please wear seatbelts, never mind it musses up you shirts or tops, it WILL save your life!) Got seriously injured at work by a psychotic patient and had to retire through the injury, married to Derek, the adoring, faithful, loving and most supporting person I know! God really blessed me when He bought Derek into my life! I have 4 Yorkies, they're as mental as I am but too quick for me to chase...don't know why I gave up the lazy Newfies lol! :) I do still DREAM about NEWFIES though?!

I've just truned down a free puppy from someone here...am I mad? NO! eminently sensible! NO MORE!(until the next time eh?)

Now we are here chilling and trying to go dogging around Europe, sorting out the house and making it the one of our dreams I hope! :)

- By JAY15 [gb] Date 06.04.10 20:41 UTC
Masonsmum, please pm me with your pub and how we find you...my son is moving to Bristol for a very long degree course and I expect we'll all troop down to see him--me and the dogs, that is. Dog friendly pub sounds just what we need! Good luck in all your ventures.
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 06.04.10 21:13 UTC
An excellent choice Dude Dog--faced with the choice of a human being or a dog, go for dog every time! They're always ready to wait for you to finish reading the newspaper first and they treat it with the respect it deserves.

I'm 53, from practically everywhere but here, living on the edge of Lancashire and North Yorkshire in a small village. For company I have three welshies (Diesel the major domo who washes everyone's face in the morning, Jack the sweetheart and the entirely too clever by half baby Bean), 20 hens (yes, they all have names), far too many cockerels (at the moment practising their choral talents at 4am and when they all go off together sounding like they are taking a sharp bend on the Pepsi Max at Blackpool) and three call ducks who are determined to add to their number. To remind me that life isn't just hanging out w\ith animals I have two sons aged 19 and 22--they tolerate the menagerie but prefer a life free of dog hair--and the rest of my family is either in the US or dotted around the world.

My background is in economic development, I run my own business and I work mainly with the voluntary sector. I'd like to move to somewhere isolated enough to keep geese, but in the meantime, this will do us nicely. Looking forward to more dogs when the boys leave home! Sorry guys, we will miss you really :)

Hairyloon!  I know who it is now!  No wonder it's under a pseudonym (probably worried she'd be banned!)  ROFLMAO!

I know who it is.  I know who it is!  Jumping up and down!  Can't believe it took me so long!

> Im 24 and probably the only one who has posted on here thats single. After 2 dating disasters, I decided to buy a new puppy instead :-)

No, you're really not!  I'm 27 and single, and probably will be for a long time yet (if not always).  I did see a guy for 9 months - but he was incapabale of compromise as far as the animals went (only 2 dogs once my 4 had dwindled, only 2 chinchillas, carpets everywhere, no room for negotiation) so we didn't last long!

Good thing too as I now have 6 dogs ;-) Four dobermanns, a rott/collie cross and a lab/collie cross.

I also have 52 pond fish :-P 6 degus, 2 chinchillas, 3 rats and at last count, 59 mice.  And 1 more degu once she's ready to come here!

I'm in Lincs too - Scunthorpe.  From Kent originally though.  Working as a trainer/behaviourist although I'm hoping to raise enough money soon to open an online pet shop :-)  I also foster for a yorkshire rescue (which is why I now have 6 dogs....... ooops!).
- By A1Amy [gb] Date 16.05.10 16:20 UTC
lol you're certainly not the only one!  I'm 26, single, live in N Yorks ...and picked my bernese mountain dog pup up yesterday!  Loving that you have a husky...always wanted one!
- By suejaw Date 16.05.10 16:58 UTC
I'm back being single again, live in the south east and just turned 30 - boo... and the proud owner of 2 BMD'S.
Amy enjoy your pup, they grow far too quickly...

Hello...

I'm Shelley, I'm 22, and have a 5 month GSP called Hogan. I live in Bristol with my partner of two years and 12 year old son (not mine!) in a little cottage near to the banks of the River Severn/Severn Bridge.

I work in lettings/property management as an assistant manager/junior negotiator of the family business. Before that I did a B(Sc) Hons in Equine Science (horses!!!) and in my spare time I teach riding as a freelance intstructor. I have my own horse and did compete in eventing and showjumping until a bone cracked in half last year (his bone not mine!) Now we just do a little schooling and hacking. I am also trained in Reiki and can perform treatments on people.

I'm new to this forum, but look forward to meeting lots of friendly people!
