Just being a bit lazy here. To save me going through all of them does anyone know which shows a legally docked dog cannot be shown at. Thanks in anticipation.

Crufts / Windsor / East England / Leeds / Bournemouth / Richmond/ LKA  = based on 2009 data. Not too many that you can't enter but you can bet your bottem $ that they will have judges perfect for your dogs .. LOL

Will see you in Amsterdam at the weekend - I did eventually get my passes yesterday thank goodness so no faffing about needed on arrival !!!

I can't see how Crufts can be one, as they charge the most for public to enter, which is what determines if they can be entered at English and Welsh shows or not.

The list is for shows where legally docked dogs can't be shown. The remaining Ch shows in 2009 were all open to entries for legally docked dogs.

ah, misread it, glad I don't have a docked breed as that would cut the shows I attend in half.

So your docked dog could qualify for Crufts but could not be entered as they charge for Public??

Whats the point in folk who have docked dogs trying to qualify?

My understanding is that if the dog was docked BEFORE the date that docking became illegal, it can be shown.

If I am wrong, the Australian shepherds for one breed will have pitifully few entries in Open or Veteran classes - and they would all be foreign imports!

Basically, if the society accepts docked dogs it will be on the schedule.  Of course you will have to make sure that you have your paperwork with you.  The rule is that any show that has paying public cannot have docked dogs.  At blackpool instead of a charge for public to enter they paid for the car park!  Clever and all shows should do this as docked dogs should be accepted at all shows in my opinion.  Cant understand the rule for crufts after all not all countries have a docking law and crufts is supposed to be international!!!!!!

Because they get a huge gate and lots of lolly.  Most champ shows don't rely on public gate.  At Crufts you pay NEC for parking.

I show my legally docked dogs at championship level at the shows were the public do not pay an entrance fee and I have 5 youngsters owned/bred by me that have qualified for Crufts 2010. They can't attend however I knew this when I opted to dock, on the plus side it is nice to know they were eligible. The down side this year has been that a young handler who shows a pup bred by me will not be able to show his much loved dog, this is a new handler and he has only handled at a couple of shows. I will enter my Vereran girl so he can experience showing at Crufts as he will never get the chance with his own dog and my old lady will probably be going to her last Crufts.

That said we do have 24 opportunities / year to show our dogs at CH level - enough opportunities to potentially make up a champion if the dog is good enough... now that is much more important than Crufts :)

Yes ones done before the docking ban can be shown still.

Was not really referring to UK resident qualifying for Crufts, more that as an International show it also keeps some countries out.  I have a breed that could be docked. And if i did work them I would choose to dock them and not attend Crufts and some champ shows. 

After all this fuss over fit for function, I do not understand this stupid paying public rule, it really sets the divide between working and show dogs. Its a shame good quality dogs cannot be judged at Crufts where after all it is the most public exposure of pedigree dogs.

I hope that your Junior Handler enjoys his day, my daughter will be there too she has now qualified.  I believe that they get spoilt rotten.

That is why mine are not docked, although I prefer them docked myself. :)

This is exactly why the government brought in this rule, they knew that those seriously involved with the exhibiting side of things, the top breeders would not want to have their hands tied so would leave tails on.

As said already this is a sure way of turning even the dual purpose breeds into show and working strains.

We should be working at eradicating this divide in breeds not increasing it.

As for excluding overseas exhibits, Crufts was never about including them per se, and of course all the cropped dogs couldn't come over and be shown.  In fact the docking ban has made things easier for those exhibits in countries where docking was banned already, swing and roundabouts.
