went to the vet this morning to drop Leah off (she having a dental bless her)
a man came in with a young boisterous lab. The lab had a large collar on, and had an obvious skin problem, the top of his head was scarred and scabbed, and one side had been shaved and he had scabs all over him. Apart from that he seemed to be a happy boy, very waggy tail, though in my limited opinion seemed to lack some training (pulling all over and bouncing round)
I asked the owner if he had a skin problem - turns out they think someone poured brake fluid or similar on him!! :(
So i said, oh well he seems to be happy enough.
The man said well it's his last day, he's here to be put to sleep.
I asked if it was because he wasn't healing (sorry I'm nosy!) but he said no - 3 months ago he bit a child, and recently he bit the man's step-son.
so it's the end of the road for the boy.
I don't know anything else, and I'm not saying that the dog shouldn't be PTS - I just thought it was sad :(
I told the man I was sorry, what more could I say
Sweet dreams lab-boy
It's sometimes difficult to know what to think about these issues, owner care makes a huge difference to how a dog behaves and grows up. I also wonder how a dog could end up having brake fluid accidently or purposely over it unless allowed to wander away from it's owners sight and care, how does such a thing happen? This incident would also cause a dog not to trust people.
I also wonder if sometimes these biting stories are made up to 'get rid' of a dog sometimes no longer wanted.
It's very sad, the poor dog had a horrible thing happen to it, but everything is just speculation, I guess we'll never know...............

Ahh poor boy, it is very sad.
At least, he is happy going into the vets and
he will not know what is happening to him, his last thoughts and feelings will most probably be happy ones. But it seems such a waste of life and so unfair :( :( :(
