Can anyone who has experience of freezing/storing semen for later use answer this for me? 
   If I take a dog to have semen frozen, do I have to be his registered owner?  This would take place with the owner's full consent but the semen would be stored in my name and only for use on my bitch at a later date.

Have you asked the people who will be providing this service?

And can I ask who they are - I'm still investigating freezing my boys' semen? Feel free to reply by pm :)

I have collected from my own dog and have a collection from a dog out in Australia. For the dog in Australia the semen was collected for me and stored in my name out in Oz until it was shipped at a later date. (the dog was not owned by me ) I paid for the collection, freezing, storage and shipping.  It is now stored in my name here in the UK.

I can't see a problem with you presenting the dog and having the semen stored in your name, I guess its much like paying for a stud service for a bitch but then not using the goods until later ..LOL.  I would however agree in advance the terms under which you can use the semen, one collection will be frozen into a number of breeding units. When people buy frozen semen they usually get just one or two breeding units for the stud fee so if you "own" the full collection I would be looking for a written contract to cover questions such as ......  Are remaining breeding units to be distroyed once you have your bitch in whelp or can it be used on other bitches, sold etc. I would get the terms in writing to avoid problems down the line.
