Hi

i am not a great fruit or veg fan and never manage to have my 5 a day.

i brought some Innocent Smoothies and according to the label a 250ml portion will give me 2 of my 5 a day.

This is great as i can drink them ok i have tried making my own but they were awfull so gave up.

My question is i thought the likes of juice and smoothies could only count as one of the five? If  it does count as two because it is the whole fruit blended and includes the fibre could i drink two 250mls and get 4 of my 5?

thanks

Apparently not. Even if you drink gallons it still only counts as two portions.

May be against official guidelines, but if it's the only fruit you manage to get down you, it will certainly be better than nothing. You're still getting the vitamins from it - I assume they're just trying to widen where you get it from.

I never like the shop bought ones, but often make my own for breakfast. I either buy the ready frozen fruit (usually 'tropical mix') from any supermarket, or freeze stuff if I buy too much. Handful of frozen fruit, a banana, a yoghurt and a splash of milk in the blender ... lovely!

Tescos make their own bags of frozen smoothie mixture too, if thats any help.  :)

I put runny honey in mine too if the fruit is a bit tart :)
