Hi all :D
Just filling out yet another form for a local Xmas show, I have enterd Saskia (9 mth husky) into the Junior class but they have claases called sweepstakes what are these? they have a class for junior bitch which she could enter what do you reckon?
They all so have a special beginners open class what is that for?
I might enter her in a variety class in January next year thethave variety junior do you think she would be ok in there or out of place?
I know I keep throwing these showing questions at you but I am getting really stressed about it as I havent a clue what I am entering or what the competion is going to be like in the classes I enter. I just do not want to enter a class that is to advanced for me

Heidi,
If you look on the entry form there should be a section headed definition of classes that tells you the qualification for each class. I would enter classes such as puppy, novice, junior debutante, maiden also sweepstakes if you don't mind waiting until end of show as they are usually held then. As far as I remember they give a percentage of entry money as prizes but that could be wrong.
I don't know why I keep answering you as I don't show much, prob nice to be able to advise someone who knows less than me :-D
Anne

Hi Heidi ...don't worry about asking questions ..it is the way everyone learns after all :)
If you look at the schedule and read the
Definition of Classes it should answer most of your questions. We have only entered Hudson in Puppy Dog and Novice so far but as it is his Birthday next week he will be in Junior Dog at LKA ..its just a question of reading the definitions and applying them to your dog.

Dogs if there is a puppy class put it in that rather than junior. Sweepstakes are usualy for AV of dogs and there will be prizes for the winners may be money or a gift. As has been said look through the schedule and read the section headed "Definitions of Classes" and with a bit of luck it will make it clear. If not ask again. Ja:)kie

Hi
There is not a puppy class so I have had to enter her in junior, the classes are clearly marked in the book but not the sweepstakes could someonr tell me what I have to do in one of those
Thanks :)

Hi Heidi,
If their is no specific mention in the definition of classes of sweepstakes does it say Junior sweepstakes in which case same as junior i.e. under 18 months or novice calculated on wins.
Don't get hung up on what you will have to do it will be the same as any showing class, the only time you might be asked to do anything different is in an Adult Handling class and I've never entered one(you should see my handling:-D) so can't help you there

Hi Dogs, Sweepstake, stakes, AV or Special classes are the same as breed classes, you show your dog just the same, if there is no puppy class then go into junior or any other you fancy. Enter the Sweepstake you never know your luck, they are often at the end of the day and although the entry may be say 36 when you go into the ring the number will not be that high. I love the sort of classes you get at the end of a show it means you can wait to see the best in show and still have something to do your self. If you find that you or your pup are too tired you can just tell the secretary that you wish to withdraw and you go home. Some people do not bother to say they wish to withdraw and it does not matter really. Ja:)kie
