I was just wondering do any of you wear a poppy? I have noticed over the years an upturn in people wearing them..down no doubt to Afghanistan and Iraq...to name a few.

Every year....i always make sure i buy a poppy and wear it with pride.

An enamel one where from that would suit my Mom and Dad? I imagine a Poppy seller rather than the boxes on counters.

Being a Forces child I can't imagine not wearing one.

Every year I buy several ....if I'm wearing a jacket or coat that I've not worn before when poppies go on sale - then I buy another poppy!

I may not agree with where our armed forces are - but I agree with our Armed Forces - and it is for them that I wear my poppy with pride!

I don't wear one but I always donate money.

Always - I wear one for my Mum's dad who was killed in WW2 when Mum was only 13, my Dad who died last year but was just a very young man in WW2, a rear gunner flying in Halifax's and my husband who is in the RAF now.

I buy one, but never have a coat to wear one with.
There are always several kicking about the house at this time of the year!!!!
We have paid £20 between 2 of us to run a 5 mile race next sunday in aid of the british legion. We will have a minutes silence at the beginning and alot of the money will go to the British legion :)

Buy them every year and wear with pride - so do OH and kids.  Although don't have close family in armed forces now, had many relatives who lost their lives during WWI and WWII.  Always makes me feel a bit sad on Rememberance Day.

Absolutely yes and always have and always attend the local remembrance sunday parade.

My feelings entirely.  My father used to tell me about WW2, he lied about his age, and was fighting in the South Pacific as a youngster.

CAn I ask where you got it? I buy (and wear) a poppy every year, but I'm currently still commuting by Motorbike and the paper poppy just won't do, an enamel one would be perfect. I've only seen "normal" poppies being sold.

Oh got them off ebay, but made sure that the seller was legit and giving the profits to British legion.

Always buy, usually more than one as I keep losing them :-), and wear one. My girls also buy and wear them as they have both visited the battlefields and cemetaries in Belgium (1st world war) and insist on wearing a poppy now. My grandad fought in WW2 and lost many friends, my mum's uncle was killed in WW1, and my brother is ex-raf but even if they weren't I would still buy and wear a poppy as those who fought/fight for this country did it for me and deserve to be remembered.

I'm Ex WRAF, my children are RAF brats so we're all members of the British Legion as well as supporters of the Poppy appeal big style.

Yes, always wear one, we should always show our gratitude towards our armed forces. I usually end up with more than one as I feel mean walking past anyone holding out the tin. :-D

I have noticed the sparkley ones that some of the celebs are wearing which i would be interested in having. Anyone seen those being sold, bit wary of getting them off ebay.

Always put some money in the tin but often lose the poppies !. It has become even more poignant since I lost Dad , he was a soldier during WW11  and always made sure he donated
I find myself avoiding discusions with people who wont were them for fear of getting cross and upset.
Incidentally I learned yesterday that there are purple poppies in memory of military animals lost in war.

Hubby & I always wear a poppy - I always look out for the poppy sellers in town at this time of year so I can buy a couple.

Yes, always!  From a forces family, I am also ex forces and my husband is still serving.  My 4 young children also wear them and know why they are wearing them.  This year they asked us if they could buy one with some spending money they had been given by their great gran for a day out :)

I like that, my baby only 20yrs is due to be posted end November, albeit only to build a staging post in Oman for troops passing on to Afghan, with the possible chance of him going to Afghan, I disagree with the Afghan war but I support my baby and his comrades.

I bought my poppy in my local Tesco's from some big hairy bikers with leathers, studs, badges and tattoo's, they were from the RBLR, they're the guys that parade and follow the coffins in Wootten Bassett, (I live in Swindon) these big gentle giant's most of whom are ex-service men just want 'help for our hero's' and I think we should all give whatever our political views, my boy is a biker as well as an Engineer in the Army so there was a link for me.

I have lots of poppies stuck on my PC at work from previous years and each year I add another, I'm from a forces family and I believe that we should all wear our poppy with pride.

No matter what your views on wars etc the fact that we're able to even talk about it means several boys had to die, at least we can talk about it some nations can't.

Around here most folk, including kids from primary school right up are wearing them but this has always been the case! One of the smaller war memorials is within the grounds of one of the primary schools and the secondary school pupils and staff lay wreaths there every year.  We have an active British Legion, Sea Cadets, ATC etc in the town as well as a very impressive war memorial that every one in the town can see as it is up on hill over looking the town and is a tourist attraction on the way to the castle which I think helps folk to remember. I do like the idea of an enamel one though as I would wear it all year round.
