What size metal crate will fit onto benching.  I am going to a championship show in a few weeks and need some help with the sizing.

Can't you get a bench front alot easier and lighter to carry

You can get either bench fronts or fronts and tops. If you are definitely after a crate then a 36" x 24" should fit on...but be warned that unless you secure them in some way they can tip off of the front of the bench if your dogs moves forward.

I would get a cage instead of the fronts.  Someone I know brought one and put her puppy in it who was not used to benches while she had her bitch in a class.  The dog freaked out and pushed his front half out of the gap round the side and then got well and truely stuck, really frightening himself.  I agree that for the dog used to showing and happy in benches they are a fantasic idea, but the manufacturer states they are NOT to be sold as a restraint.

If your dog is new to showing I would opt for a cage.  The size depends on your breed as different sized breeds have different sized benches.  What is your breed.  If your dog is a seasoned show goer ignore everything I've just said!

I use a bench front / top.  If there are gaps at the sides I also use a lose benching chain just in case.

I use a top/front on the bench and would definitely use a benching chain as well if there is any gap between cage and bench sides, but once in position they are very hard to budge.
