Are they worth the money?  I really need to lose weight and due to my back and leg I've got to start exercising and not a gym person.

I've got a wii and the wii fit game, I played it loads at first but havn't gotten it out for ages now. It was good though, not sure how much it would help weight loss though I'm happy with my weight so wasn't looking to loose any just wanted the game, most of the exercises are stretches and balance games, not sure how many calories they would burn. The hoola hooping on it really knackered me out though and I did like the step aerobics, keep meaning to get back into playing it because I did find it helped my posture and general flexibility and made me feel a bit more energetic.
Anyone walking past my house can see straight into my living room too so I must have looked like a proper muppet hopping around and waving my arms about in front of the telly. :)
Not sure how much it would cost altogether because my OH runs his own computer game shop and he gave me the Wii and Wii fit stuff, I think the Wii fit board was about £60 when it first came out which to me seems very dear for what it is, it may have come down in price now though and you can get most consoles and things a lot cheaper second hand.

Is swimming an option? a friend has similar problems and has found swimming a big help and has lost loads of weight :-). There are good deals on the wii but swimming is still a lot cheaper, there are adult/women only swimming times at most pools also.

Been told to do swimming as well, not a good swimmer though, not swam for years and even then I could only do a width.  When I was at school you were taught the old fashioned way and pushed in so has put me off water LOL, but yep. I'm going to look on the internet shortly for swimwear that covers everywhere!

I bought one with the wi-fit board and it has been a HUGE mistake. If you have any existing injuries, I would really think long and hard and seek medical advice as in my case it has really flared up symptoms from an injury that has not really bothered me for around 10 years. Two 10 seconds on the wii and it is now really problematic once again!!

On a brighter note I have just got back from Scotland and met a lovely lady who had a bitch she had purchased from you. Sorry I can't remember her name, but she does water work and working trials if that gives you a clue. Both her girls were lovely (one being a pup from the bitch you bred) and obviously much loved and had fullfilled all her expectations of the breed.

Know exactly how you feel LOL I too am not a good swimmer but it really is excellent exercise. Perhaps you could find somewhere that does aqua-aerobics (sp?)

Aww that's Brenda and yep her two girls are beautiful, although I haven't seen her pup since she was 10 weeks old. Can't wait to go to the SWD meets next year to see her again!

I know you say you aren't a gym person but there are gym's and there are gym's. I'd never go to a big all singing all dancing place with all youngsters jumping about in lycra but if you can find a small private gym, or just a place that does exercise classes you might be pleasantly suprised. If nothing else, a trainer in a gym can set you on the right path and help you with exercises and plans to suit you. Working out on your own with a Wii fit board will be extremely boring I'd imagine - to me Wii's are a fun thing to play with in a group. Lots of gym's will allow a trial period and a good gym will test your fitness level (blood pressure and basics) before letting you do exercises which could cause more harm than good.
I know I'm a gym convert, maybe I'm lucky that I go to a really small one where every member is known to all the staff and treated as an individual, but to me, if you are thinking of spending £100+ on a Wii then you might as well put it towards a few sessions with a personal trainer and let him/her show you what's best for you.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
