Its getting to that time of year again when everyone wants to know what do you want ? LOL This year I have decided instead of me saying "save your pennies" and getting something I will never use LOL I am going to say equipment for my grooming box! I need some kind of case (prefer the smaller metal ones) but cant find any on the web Any ideas? Also any recommendations for combs/scissors, and soft slickers would be appreciated.
Thanks Angela

I have to say for the first time in years I bought a grooming bag (for the last 10 years everything has been chucked into the removable end of a Pedigree bag).  I had looked at the metal ones & the plastic ones & then saw the canvas compact bags.  I have to say it's been brilliant & I can squish it down the side of the crate in the car (something you can't do with metal/plastic).  I should imagine people like Groomers, Diamond edge etc. might do what you're looking for, but most seem to stock plastic rather than metal.  I shall have a hunt for you :-)

Petcetera do a large one (doesn't look that large to me though but depends how much of a collection you have, :-P)

Think the PURINA Box is the best I have seen,
don't know if they sell them...  could ask at their
Stand.. I got one a few years ago, when they were
sponsoring two of our Terriers,

Thanks :-) Don't have that large a collection now but growing ! :-) The bag I use now is canvas but i can never find anything in it, was hoping that a metal case could be more organised (or make me more organised LOL)

Ibought a gorgeous pink aluminium grooming box for £10 pounds. Try your local hairdresser suppliers, you usually need a trade card but if items are reduced the general public can buy there.

My daughter uses one of these for her horse's grooming kit and its really good - plenty of pockets for holding combs, scissors etc. Not too expensive either :-)

As someone mentioned hairdressers there's a couple of retail outlets in Sale that let the GP buy products.

I'm going to pop into Diamond Edge on monday as need to replace all my scissors, i too need something to keep my kit in, so will have a look for you in there.

Dezynadag and also HUB maybe worth looking at also.

My sister bought her's in a hair and beauty store, very smart and quite cheap, could be a better option than going for a dog one

I use one of these...its absolutely brilliant, easy to keep organised, lots of small pockets that are in slim zipped compartments on either side, and a nice big central one for grooming sprays and baby wipes etc. I could live without it!

I was looking for a nice box, like the aluminium ones but they were about £50 on-line and a little cheaper at the shows. However when I looked at it althought there were lots of compartments I still didn't think I'd get everything and my clippers in it.

I was chuffed to bits to find just what I wanted for £25 in B&Q, top opening aluminium box, good deep trays that open out with lid and deep bottom for brushes.  The trays are even deep enough for the clippers.  Just looked and can't see on their website though.

Just checked the Maplin link and it's the same one as there http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?moduleno=42910

Soft slickers - it has to be the Mikki ones.  I've tried various ones and for my poodles I can't find anything to beat them, I prefer the flat backed ones to the curved though

Is this the one cant tell if its flat backed?
Thanks
Angela

Yes thats the one only I don't like small brushes and I buy the large one and use  it on everyone from bernese to small poodles.  Like you can't tell from the picture if its the curved back or flat back, but I'm sure when I went to petcetera at a show they only have curved backed ones.  I always get my flat backed ones from Hub International, they dont always have everything on their website but if you phone them and tell them its the flat one you want they will post it to you and you will get it the next day, their service is brilliant.

Sorry hun but went into town and couldn't bring myself to walk all the way to Diamond Edge, i was in heels and had to find a pair of glasses..
- By ANNM172 [gb] Date 02.11.09 13:15 UTC
I bought one of the metal grooming boxes and used it for  a year- It is now relegated to being the "In the house grooming box as it's heavy to carry at shows and takes up loads of room. I have just bought a soft canvas balck one at a champ show (white paw on front) and this squishes inside bags or in my trolley shelf etc. The metal one looks fab but was a nuisance imo
- By Kasshyk [gb] Date 02.11.09 13:32 UTC
No prob Sue, did you get your glasses?
Angela
- By suejaw Date 02.11.09 13:58 UTC
I did indeed get some glasses, but they need to go back to be tightened up, they are slipping off my nose right now..
