Topic Other Boards / Foo / Probably a stupid question

Hi all

Rarely post on here (apart from my intro) but do read every single day and find the forum fascinating.

I just wanted to ask what is probably a very stupid question <g>.  On the various parts of the forum, the breed of dog posted about rarely seems to be stated. Its either not there at all or in short (ie GR).  Now I can work out GR but not many of the others.  Is there a reason why they arent stated?   I try to take in all the information I can but knowing the breed being spoken about would help it absorb in my little brain :-)

Told you it was a stupid question :-)

The breed of dog being spoken about can not be mentioned on the breeding board unless it is particularly relevant to the question as it maybe a form of advertising . On any other board it is allowed to mention the breed. The abbreviations are just quicker to write and come naturally if you own them although I can see it may be confusing at times when you are trying to work out an unfamilier abbreviation.

Thanks Satincollie.  I try to get an idea from the posters name and sometimes from their avatar pictures but they are often too small to see unless you know the breed I guess.

I can understand it not being allowed on the breeding forum but thanks for clearing up that it is allowed elsewhere.  If Im particularly interested in a thread and I really cant work it out, at least I know I can ask now :-)
