Has anyone got a Tefal actifry? I' ve seen them advertised and look really good, and a healthy way of cooking chips, but they are very expensive so I don't want to indulge if they arn't what they seem.

I don't have one myself but my friend has and she loves it.
It makes beautiful chips and as far as I know does what it says in the advertising.

I'm hoping the price will come down.  It seems a great fryer, much heathier than normal.  But I don't think I can justify the cost.  I wonder if they sell them in Costco?

We brought one and it is fantastic,I hate the smell of grease and hot fat and chips cooking.
This doesnt smell at all and you can add spices to the 1 tablespoon of oil that you do use to  vary the taste of chips.
It does amazing chips, chicken fillets, sausages, even frozen chips,we did roast potatoes last night and they were lovely.
Only 2 things I would change it can be a bit noisy and the timer bell is quiet and it doesnt stop the machine you turn it off manually.
They are on offer in Argos for £139 but Amazon had then for £120ish.Well worth buying.

I thought this looked great, i cant stand deep fat fried chips but my OH hates oven chips so maybe this would be a good middle ground, but like you think they are a little expensive ( ive just splashed out on a slow cooker ) might wait a while to see if they come down in price.

I was looking at this. I hate oven chips with a passion. So very dry. I also hate the smell of deep frying chips (except in chip shops) so this does seem a good half way point.
what are the chips like?

I've had mine for about 18 months now and think its fabulous.
Chips tast great albeit slightly different to deep fried ones and roast veg are to die for. Go on treat yourself. Its well worth it. wouldn't be without mine.
