She had another crisis tonight, this is the second but it lasted almost 5hrs. Started before 5pm, she vomited a small amount, the carrot she`d had a little earlier then the staggering I thought she`d gone blind. Realised what was happening so settled her on her bed & sat with her. It was just a lot of rapid eye movement, she could sort of see me & definately knew I was with her & could smell & hear me. Tail wagging furiously, but I rang the vet 6ish, he said keep her calm & quite, had an emergency at clinic & would be here asap.
About 7.45 she wanted to go out so I fed her & gave her the meds shes on, took her out for her business & she was unsteady so got her back in as soon as she`d done what she had to, settled her but she still had the rapid eye movement. Vet came just after 8 & brought drops(sedative diazipam) for her which he administered. By this time she was getting really more stressed as she doesn`t like him much. Popped her in the bedroom & she settled, saw the vet out & went back to check on her. She was staggering around in a circle & I sat with her for ages to get her sttled & she went to sleep finally, she`s snoring away right now :)
This episode lasted 5 hrs, I thought I was going to lose her. It wasn`t severe but the length of time it lasted. And about 3 wks ago I noticed her limping slightly. The lump is now hurting her so she`s on metcam & its working wonders, she was running about again like there nothing wrong.
The board says post your questions here, well I`ve got a million but nobodies going to have any answers for them, 1 step forward & 2 back :( :( :(
I`m just about holding myself together, more through fear if I let go I`ll never stop!!! I lost Toffee, my 15yr old a few wks ago & haven`t been able to post about it yet for the same reason.
I just have to see how things go day by day. Oh dear, she`s my heart :(

I'm so very sorry you're having such a hard time, Christine.
For your girl's sake, try to hold on. She needs you to be calm and strong.
Sending you a supportive (( hug )) over the internet.

Oh I do feel for you. (((( HUGS ))))
Sweepy slept soundly all night. But when she tried to get up this morning her back legs didn`t work. It could have been the meds but it was clear by early afternoon it wasn`t.
She found peace a while ago.

Oh Christine!
((( My most warmest and hugest of hugs ))) I'm so very very sorry to hear of Toffee and Sweepy and I can only imagine how utterly heart wrenching a time these past days must be for you. We are all here you know.. with waterproof shoulders at the ready xx
Over the years you have been such a help and support to others on this forum.. it would be a poor show if we were not all gathered round the CD kitchen table for you now ;-) So if you want to cry, shout or kick the table!! we are all here for tears and soon hopefully a sad smile xxxxxxxx Because thats more than enough upset for a person to cope with x
(Speaking of sad smiles... we can post pictures now in the Rainbow bridge threads, that would be nice when you feel up to posting there? xx)
Lots of love and
thinking of you xLiv xxx

Christine I am so very, very sorry to read this.
Having lost two dogs within 10 weeks of each other this summer, I'm very much aware that it is almost too much to bear.
Run free with Toffee sweetheart and wait for Christine at the bridge.

Rest in peace Sweepy.

I'm so sorry, Christine. She was blessed to have an owner who loved her so much. It hurts us so badly when we lose our beloved old friends. :-( :-(

Thanks everyone. I know you all understand how I`m feeling.
I`m just so shocked, didn`t think it would be like this so quick. As much as I knew they wer getting on, had health problems, tried to prepare myself for it, I just wasnt. There`s a huge void in the house, it seems so quiet too big, I don`t seem to have enough to do. They both to used sleep either side of our bed, spent the day in the sitting room.
I`ll try & put them on rainbow bridge over the w/end but I can`t right now, it`s as if I do this dam inside me will overflow & I`m not ready for that just yet.
Toffee & Sweep along with my Bonnie were my first & now they`ve gone :(
So sorry, stay strong. Hugs
